Danny's P.O.V.
I pushed open the double doors at Tripler Army Medical Centre and was greeted by the blinding fluorescent lights and the rush of nurses and doctors. I walked down the ER wing gripping my side. While men and women in suits and white coats, I stumbled along the corridors in ripped and bloody clothes, my face covered in blood and dirt. A nurse ran up to me, concern in her eyes. "No, I'm all right," I said before she could start,"It's just some busted ribs, thank you." I smiled as she patted my shoulder and took off down the hallway.
I continued down the hall, only to be greeted by Lou, Chin and Kono running towards me. "Danny hey!" Chin called. I skipped casualties, my concern for Steve was too overwhelming "Where is he?". "They just rushed him into surgery." Chin hooked is thumb over his shoulder. "EMT said he lost a lot of blood." Kono added reluctantly. When Lou saw my face fall, he put his hand on my shoulder, "You know Steve's as tough as they come, Danny, okay?" He said sternly, "He's not gonna go out without a fight."
"Yeah." I said
Yeah.
Yeah.
I kept repeating over and over in my head, hoping it would help me realize that it was true.
As you can guess, it didn't.
I turned around sharply, walking right back out those double doors, hearing Chin calling after me. "Hey, where you going?" He yelled. When I didn't respond, he added, "You need to get yourself checked out!" I sped up and shouted over my shoulder, "I'm fine, come on." I could hear them following me, calling after me, "Danny! Danny!" I couldn't hear them, all I could hear was that single heart beat of Steve's heart on that plane. The heart beat that kept my heart beating.
Flash to scene at HQ
I swung open the door to the dungeon's entrance. I sprinted down the stairs, trying to compose myself. Violence won't get any of the answers I need, I said to myself, you need to stay calm. I stopped in front of the door and took a deep breath. I swung the door open. When I saw Dae sitting there, blood dripping from his face, hands cuffed behind him, anger and adrenaline flooded my impulse control.
"I think I need to see a doctor." He stuttered through bloody lips, as I walked towards him, faster than a cannonball. As soon as I was nearly nose to nose with him, I punched him, right across the chin, making him spit blood. Being bound, Dae couldn't fight gravity and fell to the ground. I stepped over him and grabbed his shirt collar, "Who were the guys in the helicopter, huh?" I shouted at him, "Who were the guys in the helicopter, huh? Huh?" I shook him as I spoke, him hanging there helplessly. "Were they business rivals?" I yelled. He turned his head, as if to finally speak to me, and spit right into my face. He grinned as I wiped my face on my sleeve. "You think you're funny, eh?" I said, smiling from ear to ear.
I reached into my pocket and pulled out a thin, silver box cutter and flipped open the blade. I knelt down and held the blade to his neck. When he didn't fidget or squirm, I moved the blade slowly up his face to just below his eye. "I want a name." I pressed the blade tighter to his eye lid. He began to sweat and squirm as I pushed it tighter. "You need to give me a name!" I yelled at him as the blade finally puncturing the skin. He snapped his head back, crying out. "All right, okay, just stop!" He screamed. I removed the blade from his face and pulled him into the upright position. "Go on." I said crossing my arms.
Flash to scene at Pearl Harbour
Chin's P.O.V.
SWAT busted the door down, exposing us to piles and piles of meth wrapped in pink and white bubble wrap-vacua sealed plastic. At least a dozen men stood behind the piles and a few near the plane. As soon, as we walked into the port, they started shooting. All of them, pulling out semi-automatics and Birmingham's finest. I fired 4 shots at 2 guys near the door and took cover behind a moving barrel. I saw Kono fire off a shot with the sniper and hit a guy near the plane.
