"...I started out when I was 17 and broke. I had to find some way to make money, this was just the easiest..."
-"I met this kid in high school who was the "plug" to everyone. He was the one who introduced me to his head dealer who took me on and gave me a shot. I really needed the money. My mother didn't know at the time, she was busy and not at home with her multiple boyfriends"
Jade reached over and grabbed his hand, giving him a sorry look. "I was already used to it at the time. I continued throughout my senior year and and most of college I had stopped dealing when I met Masons mother, Danielle. She was beautiful and everything I thought I needed to solve my problems, she wasn't. I ended dealing again and I never did any before but when I met Danielle I started smoking. She got me in a lot of trouble."
Jade looked away for a second and took a drink of the water in front of her. This was a lot for her to take in and she was afraid her emotions would start to get the best of her.
"When I was around 24 Danielle got pregnant. We both weren't really ready for a baby just yet but I really dreamed of being a father" he smiled and his eyes showed that smile.
"She was just perfect. No problems whatsoever. I mean we just got along perfectly for those 8 months. That was until she left with no explanation. Nothing. Not even a text. A couple weeks later I got a call from the hospital saying that my baby was born prematurely and the mother wasn't there... my bank accounts were almost empty...her clothes were gone. She stole everything including my heart."
Jade saw the sadness and tears forming in his eyes.
"I'm sorry Jade for-" she cut him off with a kiss. She pressed her lips against his and wrapped her arms around him.
"No it's fine I want to know."
"Well ever since then my mom popped up back in my life. Dani left and never came back. And I've been taking care of Mason, getting my money back from your broke ass ex, stackin' bricks, dealing with Dani being pregnant, and having this amazing woman right here who's gorgeous and kind with a smart mouth."
"Thank you for trusting me with so much about your life. You really have gone through some tough shit"
He tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear and squeezed her hand in his, "its good, we all have different pasts. All I can say is that mine was a little challenging. If none of it happened I wouldn't have Mason or my mother back and I especially wouldn't have you..."
