I stare at the countdown. It's pretty close. I'll meet my true love soon. I wonder who it is. I continue past the door and every tree. I trudge through the snow, ignoring the cold nipping at my face, legs, and fingertips. I just keep going, watching it get ever smaller. I'll meet them soon. I stop at a gate once I hear the sound of another set of footsteps.
"Don't you know how to greet a new pal?"
I turn around immediately, too exciting at the prospect of meeting who is supposed to be my true love. We finally meet. I've been excited for this day. This will be great. I'm just so-
"What?" I ask, looking down at my wrist. Sure enough, it has stopped at a blinking '00:00:00'. This is the person, but it must be a mistake. I can't-
"Something the matter?" he asks with an ever-present smile. No, I can't.
Now, I'm not homophobic or anything. Really I'm not. It's just that I'm also not a homosexual. I'm a guy that's into girls. But my countdown to meeting my true love stopped upon meeting this skeleton.
"It's just that I'm not gay."
"Well, obviously you are now."
