"Severus, I beg of you. It would be in the boy's best interests."

"I do not care for the boy's interest's, I have done enough already. My only concern now is Draco, Headmaster. His father will be locked up in Azkaban, of which I am sure he will never see the sky again. And Narcissa will be so taken up with grief for her husband that she will scarcely have time for her son. It is my aim to help Draco now, and Draco only. I have risked my life many a time for the stubborn boy and neglected my duties as a Godfather, not any longer.

"And how can you be so sure of all this Severus?"

"Because, Albus, I know them well. While Lucius will like to think that he is strong, he accommodates to his best interests. However not even his adaptability could handle a world where Muggle's roam free and there is no imminent promise of Voldemort; A snake has its limits. He is stubborn and will choose to rot in Azkaban. The only reason he lasted so long after the Dark Lord's first downfall was the almost certainty that Voldemort would rise again, which he has. If, and hopefully when, we defeat the dark lord Lucius will no longer have an incentive to keep going on. Narcissa, however, will be far more likely to grasp onto freedom. She once was an avid death eater, yes, but unlike Lucius, her priorities shifted when Draco entered this world. She only stand's with Voldemort now due to her affection for her husband and the death which would surely come upon Draco if she was to flee the country and seek sanctuary."

"Nevertheless, do you not think that your godson would also benefit from such an occasion if all were to go to plan, Severus? By then we will both have ripped from this world, but would you not rather prefer if you could leave with the knowledge that what Draco got himself trapped in won't have a profound effect on his future?"

The two had been debating and arguing for almost an hour. Pro's and Con's had been swapped back and forth until tongues were dry and throats were hoarse. The dialogue had fluctuated from raised voices that felt wrong within the serenity of hundreds of books, and speech had become so it practically simmered over into angered outbursts.

"You know as much as I do that I have made it my duty to look over my Godson and want only the best for him, but this is madness! You are asking for the impossible. If this series of events you are suggesting does go accordingly, which is highly unlikely, you are asking for these two boys to forget years worth of conflict. Both of these boys are stubborn and will not abide by these plans you speak of, this is almost a mockery of my time."

"Severus, do you think that I enjoy all this scheming? I wish there was another way, but it appear's to be the only way to help these young men. I truly wish that I could help them, both of them, another way." Dumbledore said pleadingly. "But I can't think of anything else which will help them such as this plan does."

"I am unsure Albus. For so long now you have been able to plot from this office, up here within the protection of Hogwarts. But now that he is back, you are scared, Albus. Look at you." Snape cast his eyes to the wrinkled hand, grey and withered. "He has managed to hurt you Albus. And what can you do? Attempt to speed up your process of training Potter?" By now the greasy haired man was practically sneering. " As he gain's power your fear festers. You have grown irrational Albus, you are being bold and not thinking properly. You are coming up with ideas so elaborate that even with your seemingly divine power's of foresight and never ending streak of luck, any sensible man would be sceptical."

Dumbledore was quiet, he knew that the Potions Master was beginning to touch on the truth. And it scared him. For nearly two decades now the two of them had been two sides of the same coin; Ying and Yang. Albus was forever the optimist and as much as he hated to admit it, he had grown wilder, his ideas and plots branched out further. And Severus was there to keep the Headmaster firmly rooted to the ground. Neither one was ever fully correct but when they met in the middle a perfect compromise would and could be reached. He was too imaginative when it came to helping others, or even hurting others to help them, but Severus Snape would come in, all of his pessimism would help Albus craft a plan.
