When I called Addison up to tell her we were going to Zack’s house for movie night, I could picture her jumping up and down as she was screaming through the phone. When she was down she cleared her throat, took a deep breathe, and acted all cool. “Yeah sure, that’s sounds fun.”

About 10 minutes later we arrived at Zack’s house. We were greeted by Maggie, hugging both me and Addi and ushering us in as soon as I knocked on the door. “Their down in the basement, follow me,” she said in a hushed motherly tone. I liked Maggie- of course I haven’t seen her since grade school but still, she seemed nice enough.

Addi and I were led down the hallway and through a door, leading to a staircase that descended deep into the darkness. I could hear the guys talking, popcorn being cooked, and drinks being poured. I just hoped it wasn’t alcohol; no way was I drinking and neither was Addi. Her father would fire that new 22 in a heartbeat, not caring who he would hit and injure- probably even kill, knowing Terry Taylor.

“Hello babe.” Zack comes up and kisses me on my cheek lightly before turning to Addi.

“Addi,” he nods to her in a sign of greeting.

“Zack,” she says, returning his gesture.

“So what are we watching?” I asked as I was being led to a brown leather couch in the center of the room. The nights were off and the overhead projector reflected rays of light onto the wall, but I could observe my surroundings pretty well. There were deer heads hanging on each wall, a pair of longhorn horns in the corner, an air hockey table in another corner by the two leather recliners. A mini kitchen was stuffed in the back right corner; consisting of a microwave, mini fridge, and a sink. On the back wall were mirrors lined up by one another. Turns out those mirrors were sliding doors, leading to the bathroom. The basement was unlike any other place I’ve seen. It was roomy and kind of cozy. Well, besides the football posters on one wall and an Xbox laying on the floor in front of the projector. No wonder all the guys at school wanted to hang around Zack- they were just using him for the awesome man-cave.

“The Fast and Furious series.”

“Um...did you just say SERIES?!” I shrieked. Not only because I LOVED Fast and Furious but because watching all 6 of the movies would take almost forever. We would be here until noon tomorrow, and I had places to be…

“Blynn, really? You’ve been cooped up in that place for way too long.”

Riley’s words flash into my mind as I take a seat on the couch in between Zack and Addi. Bryson decided to sit next to Addi, squashing all of us in the process. Caden plopped himself down in one of the leather recliners , and Alex sits in the one beside him. I thought maybe Bryson and Alex would be sitting next to each other, considering they’re always seen together. But instead Bryson sits close to Addi as Alex has a seat to himself. A couple other guys make their way to the pallet on the floor, including Jackson Woods, the host of tomorrow’s gigantic rager. He reminds me a lot of Tyrese; the guy that plays Roman in the Fast and Furious. Dark skinned, brown eyes, and a big forehead to go with it. Yeah, definitely like Tyrese.

When everyone is comfortable, and each spot has their own bag of popcorn, Caden presses ‘play’ and the first movie appears on screen.

I wasn’t too familiar with the first 2 movies, but when we got to The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift, I was pretty much quoting every line. Addi was shoving popcorn in my mouth, telling me to shut up. Halfway through the 3rd movie, Zack had slouched down and had his arm draped around me. I just went with it because I’m pretty sure not every single person in this room knew it was fake.

During “Intermission”, which was after the 4th movie and before Fast Five, I checked the clock on the microwave. 1:52 A.M. I went over to where Addi was giggling with Bryson and whispered in her ear.
