Could It Be Something More?

No one spoke about the dance on Monday as we sat together on the bench. Karen and Tyler were finally talking and Karen seemed to be coping well.
Perhaps she needed to fuel her anger into all the shouting and the slap. Me, Jessica and Karen went to a café after school and we saw Kyle. "Hey! Jessica!" He yelled from his table. Jessica leapt from our booth and ran over to him. She always seemed distant around us those days and she was always occupied with Kyle.
Jason and Karen had started a friendship and they'd often meet at Jason's college campus then get coffee. Having the girls occupied with their 'guy friends' meant me and Joseph had time to spend with each other.
"I need the truth. The honest truth Mia," Karen said snapping me out of my thought and pulling me back to reality. "Yeah. Anything. Ask me," I replied smiling. "Are you dating Joseph?" She asked. I began choking on my espresso. "Why would you ask me that?" I spluttered. "Just answer the question!" Karen said impatiently.
Should I tell her? I thought to myself. Joseph had told Tyler and Matt already and if Matt knew that meant Michael knew.
"Yeah. We're dating," I said. "Knew it. I saw you two dancing at the winter dance then when you two were in the corner sucking each other's face like vacuums," Karen said clapping excitedly. I felt my face heat up and I rolled my eyes. Bad habit! "How long?" She asked. "I don't know. Two months," I shrugged. Karen gave me a pissed look. Why did it matter so much? It was just a relationship. "And you kept me in the dark for two months?! We're friends and I want us to be besties but how can we do that if you're keeping secrets?" She was guilt tripping me. Not working. "We just didn't want everyone knowing and overwhelming us," I explained. This time Karen rolled her eyes. "Yeah. Sure. Okay," she said, her voice laced with sarcasm. Ugh. "Oh bite me Karen," I said and she bared her teeth playfully making me laughing.

"Ok. Class that's it. Go home study and come back refreshed and ready for school next term," Mr Bryant my geography teacher said as the final bell rang. I gathered all my papers and books and ran through the door. I went to my locker and placed my books and other necessary items into my bag then made my way to Joseph's locker. He was leaning against his locker wearing his gym clothes and talking to some other guys about soccer. "Hey," I said and he pulled me into a hug.
Ew sweaty guy hug.
"Yuck! You're all sweaty dude and you reek," I said. The other guys laughed and he pretended to be hurt. I laughed too. "Going to the beach with Karen Jessica Tyler etcetera?" I asked bouncing with excitement. He nodded. We were all having a beach party as a last day of school thing and I was super pumped. I went outside to my car and put my bag in the passenger seat next to me and drove home.
My mom was on her laptop as usual and dad wasn't home as usual. The smell chocolate filled my nose and I wandered into the kitchen where our chef was baking chocolate lava cupcakes. I grinned and dashed upstairs to take a shower. I grabbed put on my bathing suit then a dress over it and went downstairs for a cupcake. Damn that thing tasted good as the melted chocolate oozed out the cake while I bit into it.

I screamed as Joseph, Tyler Matt and Michael sprayed water at me with their water guns. Karen and Jessica ran to help but they too ended up getting wet and we all ended up laying on the sand. We ate burgers,hot dogs, nacho chips and cinnamon buns. After I while Joseph and I took a walk down the beach alone and we got ice cream. On our way back I tripped on a pebble. Yeah a pebble pathetic I know. Nevertheless I tripped on a pebble and he grabbed me before I hit the sand sliding an arm around my waist. It felt like when we first met and he had caught me only this time there was much more intimacy. I looked at him. Really looked. Into those dark brown gorgeous eyes and he kissed me slowly. I moaned a little he parted my lips with his tongue and bit on my bottom lip causing another slight moan to escape. "You mean everything to me Mia. I'll never get bored of you." He said breathlessly and with that he swooped me into another kiss.
