I sat in front my mirror outlining my eyes with black eyeliner. My eyelashes were already quite thick and long so I lightly applied mascara before working on my eyebrows. Foundation and concealer was already done and I applied a matte lipstick. If I happened to kiss anyone I wouldn't end up leaving a lip mark. I put on a cute hot pink dress with silver heels. I heard a car horn and I looked out my bedroom window. Joseph got out his black car and leaned against it. I waved at him. My parents were out so I went to Tyrell's room.
"Hey I'm going out," I said. "Party?" Tyrell said not looking up from his phone. I smirked and he laughed. "Have fun big sis," he said and I raced downstairs.
"Hey," I said smiling at him. He looked amazing. He wore a black lacoste shirt and a dark blue denim jeans with timberlands. Damn! "Hey you look amazing," he responded. "Yeah, yeah this isn't prom but thanks," I said. He laughed and we got in the car. Our conversation on the way the party was nothing short of boring and we arrived in about fifteen. Music blared and teenagers stood (some stumbled) outside the club with drinks in their hands laughing and chatting. We got out and approached security. Joseph handed the guard his invite and I gave in my plus one pass.
Inside reeked of smoke and the music was loud enough burst my eardrums. "Joseph! Mia!" Karen said, hugging me after she rushed over to us. "Sup. Where's Tyler?" Joseph said. "We were at the bar taking shots before I came over here," Karen said.
"Cool. Need a drink?" Joseph asked turning to me. I smiled. "Yeah actually." We made our way to the bar. Tyler was nowhere there but it didn't matter. Joseph still bought me drinks. "What do you want?" He asked and his eyes seemed to burn through me. I didn't know many drinks except the ones my parents drank like vodka, tequilas, martinis, Pina Coladas then there were the wines, beers, cocktails and champagnes. Ok maybe I knew a few drinks. "Perhaps a tequila with a tip of vodka," I said. He smiled and I had to look away before I turned into a puddle. "Nice." He turned to the bartender. "A tequila with a tip of vodka and a beer." The bartender nodded and got our drinks. We made a toast to me starting at Winston Academy.
"Hey lovers," Tyler said as he put his arms around our necks and nearly made me spill my drink. "Hey dude!" Joseph said smiling and they did a weird bro hug thing. "You coming? We're playing spin the bottle," Tyler said to Joseph. I rolled my eyes typical. "Ok. Coming?" Joseph asked. I shook my head. "Oh come on. We need girls. Do you really want a bunch of guys kissing?" Tyler said. "I really don't care." "Scared you'll have to kiss Mr. Handsome here?" He continued smirking. "No. And why would I be scared?" "Oh you know why." I sighed and followed as we went to a backroom. Couples were back there sucking off each other's faces and way too much touching. I cringed. We joined a circle of five other teens. If we didn't kiss the other person we would have to answer a question. As the bottle spun each time my heart beat so loud you could probably hear it.
"Come on just kiss him," a boy was urging a girl sitting next to me. The poor girl had to kiss a scrawny, nerdy looking boy with bad acne and pimples. She cringed as she leaned in to kiss him. I cringed with her and suddenly he grabbed her face kissing her like his life depended on it. The girl looked ready to vomit and so was I. I excused myself from the circle. I sat at the bar and took a few shots. I had never drank so much in my life and it actually felt good. As I took my fifth shot my favourite song came on. The dance floor teemed with other teenagers and I joined the crowd dancing my life away. I danced as song after song played and I felt so alive and carefree. Maybe these last two years of high school wouldn't be so bad after all.
A slow tune began to play which gave me my cue to leave. I sat at the bar and as I watched the couples dance I remembered Joseph. I went back to the spin the bottle room but he wasn't there. "Where's Joseph?" I asked Tyler. "Bathroom," Tyler said spinning the bottle. "Thanks." I stalked off away from the cringy game and heading toward the bathroom.
A hand rested on my shoulder and I spun around to see who it was. "Joseph! Hey. I was looking for you," I said. "I was looking for you. You look a little light-headed. Do you wanna go home?" He said looking at me with a worried expression. "I'm fine. Let's dance!" "Your slurring. We're leaving," he said grabbing my arms and he pulled me toward the exit.
Without thinking and half drunkenly I grabbed his face and brought my lips towards his...
