It Was for the Best - Sans x Reader

A/N: Little reminder I will be doing request out of order, doing the ones I know best first and taking time on the character that I don't know all that well. Hope you like this one. 

Sans sighed as he rubbed the back of his skull, looking at you from the corner of his eye socket. You hadn't spoken a single word all day, your body curled up into a ball with your back facing him. It's been a week since he last heard you speak, perhaps you were still mad at him? Though that was absurd, you had no real reason to be mad at him...did you? He found himself clearing his throat, watching as you shifted around a bit, as if to tell him you were listening.

"You're not still hung up over that...are you?" he quietly asked. All he got as a response was more shuffling along with a huff from what he could tell by the movement of your shoulders. "I'm doing this for you, for us" he said, stressing that last word.

"Liar" his phalanges twitched as he heard your hoarse voice whisper that. He gave an annoyed sigh, shifting around on his spot on the bed so that he could look at you better. His soul seemed to hum in delight at just looking at you.

"It's not a lie" he mumbled, carefully reaching one arm out to gentle brush his phalanges through your [Short/Long] hair. Your body seemed to tense at this, you started to shake the more you could feel him touch you before your body jolted. The skeleton was taken aback by the sudden rough movement as you smacked away his hand while turning your body around to face him. Scooting further away from him until your back touched the wall the bed was pressed up against. A jolt of anger shot through him the minute he spotted the distain in your eyes.

"Liar! Liar! Liar!" your voice rose each time you repeated the word until you were screaming. The louder you screamed the more irritated the short skeleton became.

"Stop it!" he suddenly sneered, his left eye flaring to life and causing your body to cease in its movements while you were restrained against the wall. Fear captured your voice and a lump formed in the back of your throat. Your screams came back full force when you felt a searing pain in your chest. "Can't you see that I'm hurting too?" he sneered, eye sockets narrowed as he watched your soul gently phase through your chest and out into the open. It was a dim [Color] mixed with swirls of grey.

It looked beaten up and worn out, cracks all around it, it looked like the minute you touched it. It would just fall apart. "I had to do it, it was for the best" the skeleton's voice grew quiet as he reached out and gently took hold of your soul. You whimpered. Already knowing what was to come.

"I'm sorry" you started whimpering before clenching your jaw in a desperate attempt to stifle your cries at the agonizing pain shooting through your body as Sans roughly dug his phalanges into your soul. Drips of grey and [Color] dripped onto the bedsheets as the skeleton stared down at the pathetic looking soul in his grasp.

"I had to do it" he muttered. "They were going to take you away if I didn't, I had to do it, it was for the best" he bitterly said. Tightening his hold around the heart shaped soul until it felt like it was about to burst if he put any more pressure on it. Then suddenly, the pain ceased and your body limply fell onto its side as your soul was pushed back into it. You laid there, gasping for air as you started twitching uncontrollably.

Through you fit, you heard Sans sigh in contentment as he lied down beside you and curled into your side. Not bothered by your jerky movements and heavy breathing as he wrapped his arms around you. "I love you" he muttered, burying his head into the crook of your neck as you gasped for more air. Chest feeling like it's going to explode if you don't get enough air in your lungs. "That's why I had to kill them, every last Monster in this god-awful Underground, all to make sure they wouldn't take you away from me" he breathed out as your body finally started to calm down and you just fell into a limp state.

"It was for the best."
