Red was a dear childhood friend of yours and out of the two of you, he was the one that decided to go off on an adventure while you chose to stay home. But, despite the both of you choosing to walk different paths, you always made sure to contact one another and keep in touch, telling each other about how your day was and what exciting things have happened to you both. It also became a routine of yours to keep the television on at all times as you hoped that you would be able to catch a glimpse of your friend. Sometimes you would luck out and catch a recent interview he had been forced into by a reporter and her cameraman, it amused you how on the screen his face was stoic and his voice was bland—void of any emotion as if he didn't have a care in the world, sounding much different compared to the cheerful tone he'd use when speaking with you. You wouldn't lie though, just the thought that he only sounded cheerful when talking to you did make you feel all bubbly and warm inside.

It was too bad that you were blissfully unaware in just how crazy you drove Red—how your voice only seemed to cause him to melt and how paranoid you made him whenever you didn't call him on time. Ever since the start of his journey, he heavily feared that you were going to replace him—that you were going to allow some other man to come around and sweep you up off your feet. When the day came that he finally became Champion, you were utterly enthralled with the news, giddily bouncing in place as you finally came to the decision to start your own adventure with your [Favorite Small Pokémon]. You became so focused on your journey and wanting to catch up with your friend that you found yourself rarely answering your phone, barely even bothering to check it and see who was exactly calling you. It wasn't until one day when you finally pulled it out with the intention of calling your mother and letting her know you were doing fine did you discover that you had over a hundred missed calls from Red.

Each one was the same as the last, all of them asking you where you were and if you were alright and asking why you weren't answering him like usually did. Upon seeing just how worried you made your friend, you felt guilty as you attempted to call him back in hopes of quelling his worry only to soon find yourself distracted by either your Pokémon wishing to be fed or other trainers wishing to fight you. It wasn't long before finally all the calls you received came to a sudden halt, a little fact you didn't think too much of as your mind seemed to just become engulfed with the thought of becoming the new Champion of the region. Eventually, you did succeed in that goal of yours and it was on that day that you became the new Champion when you suddenly received a text from a number that at one point in your life had been familiar but now to you, it was only a stranger's number.

'Come to the top of Mt. Silver for a battle.'

That's all the message said and a part of you knew you should have been put off by the location of the battle, but instead, you simply shrugged and made your way towards the mountain. You made sure you were prepared, healing at the nearby Pokémon Center while also making sure to stock up on all the things you would need for both yourself and your Pokémon. When you did finally began your long trek towards the top of the mountain, it became alarmingly clear to you just how cold the inside and surrounding outside of the mountain really was—no matter how thick your clothes were or how many layers you wore, you still felt the way your teeth chattered as your flesh almost felt numb to the harsh sting of the wind that blew around you. It wasn't long before you found your [Favorite Small Pokémon] pushing at your back as if they were trying to help you move forward the minute they took notice in how sluggish your movements were becoming. You were extremely pale at this point, your eyes feeling heavy and your nose was a puffy red that stung as snot ran down it in a steady stream, you were certain that at this point your toes were frostbitten and ready to fall off due to jolts of pain that would shoot up your legs every time you took a step forward.

You almost wanted to cry in relief when you finally reached the top of the mountain, a part of you praying that whoever was wishing to challenge you had something warm they wouldn't mind sharing with you. Squinting your eyes as you looked around for the trainer that had challenged you, you soon spotted the tall, lean figure of a young man who stood right at the edge of the mountain. Shuffling closer towards him, you soon halted as a wide smile spread across your lips the moment you finally recognized the man whose back was facing you. You were barely able to find your voice, instead making a soft sound of excitement as your childhood friend finally turned around to face you, his red eyes boring straight into your own [Eye Color] ones. Your smile faltered just a little though when you suddenly spotted a certain shine within the depths of those ruby irises which displayed an emotion that you couldn't quite pinpoint.

"So, I guess you were the one who sent the text?" you asked, opting to brush aside thinking about whatever it was you were seeing reflected in that gaze of his and instead chose to shoot him a bright, friendly smile. You grinned when he nodded his head and with that you motioned for your [Favorite Small Pokémon] to stay back as you called out one of your other Pokémon instead to start the fight off with. "Alright then, I'll battle you—but be warned, I'm a lot stronger now than I was when we were kids" you proudly boasted just as a shiver harshly racked up your spine the second you caught sight of the grin that tugged at your friend's lips as he called out his Pikachu. The minute the battle started, was the minute you realized just how badly you had messed up in accepting this fight. You were nowhere on the same level as Red as you watched how he was able to easily faint every last one of your Pokémon until finally, it was only just you and [Favorite Small Pokémon] left.

Just as you were ready to admit defeat, you frowned as Red suddenly called out his Venusaur, and without a word, he pointed his finger towards you and your Pokémon. His Venusaur looked hesitant for a moment before finally its vines sprouted from its back and shot their way towards you, tightly wrapping their way around your body and the bodies of all your Pokemon before you even had a chance to call out an attack.

"H-hey, Red, what's the meaning of this?" you sputtered out, body squirming around and against your restraints as you tried to escape. Red said nothing, only nodding his head towards his Venusaur who looked quite sad about the silent order it had just been given. Just as you had been ready to speak, your eyes widen and your voice got caught in your throat the minute you heard the harsh sounds of cracking and crunching and ripping as one by one you watched how your Pokémon were slowly torn apart by the vines which tightly held their bodies. "Wha..." tears welled up in your eyes as you watched how their bodies dropped while their blood and entrails now stained the snow-covered ground. Clenching your jaw, you shakily peered back up at Red and finally realized that the man you were looking at was no longer your sweet, childhood friend.

Instead the man who stood before you was nothing more than a cold heated monster who seemed to just stare you down with a crazed shine in his eyes. You soon found yourself struggling once again, heartbeat wildly pounding with fright inside your chest as Red slowly made his way closer towards you before suddenly he changed his direction towards your only remaining Pokémon, your [Favorite Small Pokémon]. Gently did he take the struggling Pokémon—his Venusaur's vines still tightly wrapped around it—and tenderly held it within his grasp before he looked you straight in the eyes.

"This is what happens when you ignore me, love" the malice in his voice chilled you to the bone before your cried out in horror the moment his grip on your Pokémon started to tighten along with the vines wrapped around it until there was a sickening crack as the creature's body went still. Your body violently squirmed around, legs thrashing about as tears streamed down your cheeks and a hateful snarl tugged at your lips—voice loudly screeching out profanities towards the raven-haired man who carelessly dropped your Pokémon's body onto the ground before finally, he made his way towards you.

"I hate you! I hate you! I hate you!" you screamed vision blurred as more tears leaked from your eyes, Red only ignored your hateful words as he instead gently cupped your freezingly wet cheek and lovingly stared at you—not at all bothered by the hateful, venomous glare you were shooting his way. You attempted to recoil back in disgust the second he pressed his lips against your own, slowly and tighteningly wrapping his arms around your waist to replace the vines which finally removed themselves as his Venusaur disappeared back into its pokéball. You did your best to struggle against the kiss he forced upon you, unable to pull away as he slowly began to drag you along with him when he started to walk backward.

Your chest felt constricted as fear took hold of your heart the longer you attempted to struggle and get away from him—nearly crying out in pain when you made an attempt to hit his chest only for pain to jolt up from your fingers and down your arm. It wasn't long before your vision slowly started to fade in and out, your mind becoming so focused on the lack of air your lungs were being deprived of that you hadn't realized both you and Red had tumbled over the mountain's edge.

"I love you" Red muttered in your ear when he finally pulled away and held you close to his body, relishing in the way yours arms instantly clung to him the moment you realized that the both of you were falling and starting to near the ground below.
