(3rd person POV)
Sally began laying the table for dinner, her mind still trying to comprehend the days events. Jack had sent Lock, Shock, and Barrel to the bathroom to dry themselves off, and was now also trying to deal with the trio's pets. Sally smiled to herself. Maybe they could make Lock, Shock, and Barrel good citizens of Halloween Town. Once the table was sorted, she headed into the living room, where Jack was trying to get the cat and scorpions off him. The ragdoll tried her best not to laugh, and failed miserably. Jack pulled one of Shock's scorpions off his shoulder, and put it back in the box. Sally went over to him and picked up the cat, placing him on the sofa. The white feline hissed at her, before curling up and falling asleep. Prying the last of the scorpions off, Jack turned to Sally. "Can I help you my dear?" He asked. Sally blushed.
"I'm just about to serve lunch, could you go and get Lock, Shock, and Barrel?" Jack nodded, "Of course!" Sally went into the kitchen to grab the food, whilst Jack made his way upstairs to get the trick-or-treaters. Knocking on the bathroom door, he called out "Dinner's ready." He stepped aside as the trio came out, all of them with a sour expression. He led them down to the dining room, and they each sat in silence. Sitting opposite them, Jack tried to strike up a conversation. "So, Lock, is your eye any better?" He asked. The small child's eye was still covered in bandages, although Sally had said it wasn't infected. Lock's uninjured eye flicked up to look at the pumpkin king. "Bite me." He snarled. Jack frowned, and turned to the eldest of the three. "How about your leg, Shock?" The witch girl folded her arms. "It's wonderful." She replied sarcastically. Jack sighed. "Barrel?" He suspected Barrel would give him a nicer answer. But he was wrong. "No." the five year old snapped. Jack gave up at that point. Sally then came in with a plate of beef. Lock and Barrel got up and started towards the door. "Where are you going?" Sally asked. Barrel stared at her incredulously. "Do you really think we starve our pets?" The two boys left the room, and Lock called out over his shoulder, "We'll make sure your scorpions are fed, Shock!" Sally placed two pieces of beef on each plate, and a few minutes later Barrel and Lock returned. The five ate in silence for a while, before Sally asked the trio, "So, what are your pets names?"
"My scorpions are called Midnight, Freak, and Killer." Shock muttered around a mouthful of food. "My spiders are Widow and Sting." Barrel grinned as the two arachnids crawled onto his shoulder. Lock's gaze remained fixed on his plate. "And my snake is called Venom. The cat and raven belong to all of us, they're called Fang and Poison Ivy." Sally smiled, "those are nice names." Once they were finished, the trick-or-treaters went straight upstairs to bed, and Jack and Sally enjoyed an evening of surprising peace.
