Storm

Lock awoke to the sound of thunder. He bolted upright and looked around the room. Shock and Barrel were still asleep. He sighed, relieved. At least they can sleep. There was another crash of thunder, this time accompanied by lightning. This time, Lock could not repress the shrill squeak of fear that escaped his lips. Barrel was jerked awake by it, thrown out of one nightmare and into another one.

A storm.

Lock, upon realising his brother was awake, hurried over to his bed and pulled him out of it's comfort. Barrel stared at him, his eyes wide with fear. "Where are we going?" Lock shoved his brother towards the door, and he fell over pathetically. "Downstairs," he hissed, making his way over to Shock's bed. Barrel tipped his head to the side like a cat, confused. "Lightning hits the tallest thing it can find, meaning this room is at risk." he explained. Barrel still looked confused, but accepted the explanation. "We'll meet you in the living room." Lock muttered. The five year old nodded, and scampered downstairs. Lock shook Shock awake, and she blinked at him, her eyes half-open. "What?" she moaned, before a large crash of thunder shocked her (A/N: get it? shocked? Shock? ... I give up on yous...) fully awake. "Storm!" she hissed. Lock dragged her out of bed and into the hallway. "Barrel's meeting us downstairs." He whispered. Shock nodded, and was about to follow him downstairs, before she realised exactly how high the staircase was. Lock picked up on her worry, and began walking down slowly. "C'mon, Shock. I'll be right here, and we need to hurry." Shock nodded and put on a brave face. There was a flash of lightning outside, and Lock realised Shock was already down the stairs and waiting for him. He scurried after her, and met Barrel in the living room. The trio huddled on the sofa, flinching at every roar of thunder or flash of lightning. Somehow, they managed to fall asleep, and that was how Sally found them when she came downstairs to prepare breakfast.
