"For the last time, we don't want your help!"
Sally sighed, and stood up. Shock was glaring at the ragdoll, her arms crossed. "Fine. You three can go back up to your room." She watched sadly as the trick-or-treaters scurried out of the room.
Scrambling up the three flights of stairs that led to their temporary bedroom in the attic, the trio paused in the hallway. "You know," Barrel mumbled, "maybe Sally could've helped you with your anger issues, Lock. You're always so cranky-"
"Shut up! Just shut up you moron!" Lock barked, his tail lashing and his eyes narrowed in anger. Shock nodded, tapping her foot in annoyance. Barrel clenched his fists, and glared at his older siblings. "You know what? I've had enough of you two! All you do is moan and whinge and call me stupid. If you two hate me so much, why do you keep me around?" He sunk to his knees, his eyes filling with tears. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry I'm not good enough. I'm sorry I'm so stupid." Barrel whispered. Lock and Shock looked at each other, and then sat down on either side of their little brother. "You aren't a moron." Lock reassured him. "We keep you around because you our brother and we love you." Barrel looked up at him, and coughed, "Really?" Shock nodded, and smiled warmly.
"Of course! If anyone's a moron, it's Lock." Barrel smirked at that comment, although Lock seemed less than happy. "You take that back." He snarled quietly. Barrel shuffled back, sensing a fight. Shock rolled her eyes, and got to her feet, towering over Lock. "No," she snapped. "You come up with all these stupid plans, and I'm the one who makes them work!" Lock jumped up, and glared at his older sister.
"That isn't true! I'm smart enough to make my plans work!" Shock scoffed, and shoved him lightly. "Oh, please! You depend on me for almost everything!" The two stopped arguing when they heard the front door open and close. Jack and Sally had obviously gone out. Grinning, Lock rammed his fist into Shock's eye. She kicked him swiftly in the stomach, and he whirled around. Barrel cringed at an audible thwack as Lock tail collided with Shock cheek. The two eldest ex boogie boys grappled with each other until they ended up at the top of the stairs. The five year old saw Shock freeze, panic lighting in her eyes. Lock took advantage of the moment of weakness, and headbutted her with such force that Shock plummeted down the stairs dragging Lock with her. Barrel heard the two scream in pain as they fell down the three flights of stairs. Worried, he hurried after them. But he was even more concerned when he heard silence. Arriving at the top of the ground floor stairs, he gasped. Lock and Shock lay unconscious at the bottom. Lock's leg was twisted round awkwardly, as was Shock's arm. They each had a black eye and a bloodied nose, and a thin stream of blood trickled out of their mouths. Barrel stared in horror, and whispered, "This is my fault."
