To the Moon and Back

Standing beside Tatsumiya, looking up at the stars, eyes full of wonder. That's what this moment was.

My master, my protector, he had sacrificed his life for the sake of the Blue Sea. I'm very grateful for him, but to see him part is painful.

I sighed slightly.

"(Y/N)?"

I snapped out of my stupor, looking at the oarfish familiar standing beside me.

"He can do one last thing before he disappears. He has already told me what he wants to do, so I must leave you here to wait for him." She said, forlorn. She sighed.

I nodded and she walked out of the room, closing the crystal blue door behind her.

I looked up at the stars again and began to fiddle with my hair unconsciously. I began to hum the song that I had been taught by Meikai, closing my eyes and leaning against the railing to the balcony where I had been standing for a while.

I heard faint singing and I opened my eyes, seeing a faint blue hue. I squealed and covered my mouth, tears pricking my eyes.

"Hello, (Y/N)." He smiled, taking me into his arms and hugging me.

It was warm, gentle, and inviting. I missed this, and I will miss this when he is gone. My shoulders started to shake and I began to cry.

"My beautiful mermaid, please do not cry," He lifted my chin up, gently making me look at him, "I know I will be gone physically from this world, but I will always be with the moon, looking down and shining my magic onto you like I have been. I will always be here, and I love you.."

"I love you too..to the moon and back!" I smiled, taking his hand into mine.

He leaned down and kissed me like he had before, but softer, kinder, but still passionate. I closed my eyes to keep the warmth going, to make it seem everlasting in the dream-like state the night had made it seem like. The last kiss we would ever share, full of love. The warmth I was feeling began to fade away as his magic wore off, leaving me standing there with a single tear rolling down my cheek as I opened my eyes and watched the blue pinpricks of light float off into the distance, becoming like the stars.
