Duel Of The Duplicates

"Smash!!!" Another Academy City mech went down for the count as Cannonbolt rolled into it's metal body.

Cannonbolt unrolled from his spherical form and looked around. There were still around 12 mechs following him. It had been around 12 minutes since Ben, Mikoto, Birdway, and Gwen split up to look for Birdway's informant. Ben had decided to turn into Jetray so he could have an arial view.

That had been a huge mistake. The moment Jetray flew into the air, some arial mechs spotted him and began firing. That had forced Ben to land. But it was already too late. The ground troops had apparently been signaled by the arial mechs and closed in on his location. So here he was as Cannonbolt bulldozing his way through the multitude of mechs.

Cannonbolt rolled himself back up into the yellow armored sphere again and rammed into a mech which plowed into several mechs behind it as Cannonbolt continued roll faster and faster. One of the mechs suddenly had a strange thin limb with a metal prong come out of a hatch on it's head and touch the yellow wrecking ball. Cannonbolt was suddenly blasted back as he recieved an intense electric shock.

"Ow!!" shouted Cannonbolt as he fell back and unrolled onto his back. "Now that really hurt!!"

Cannonbolt got up wearily as he was suddenly surrounded by more of the sleek black mech suits.

"Surrender." said one of the mechs in a staticky voice. "We have you surrounded."

"Yeah whatever!" said Cannonbolt. "But before we go...how about a little bowling!"

Cannonbolt rolled back into a sphere and rocketted into the mech then bounced off of it like a pinball, hitting and bouncing off the many other drones. Cannonbolt rolled away from the wrecked drones. "Hehe! STRIKE!!!"

Cannonbolt rolled a sharp right and straight into a narrow alleyway where he changed back into Ben in a flash of green light. "Whew! Now that was a work out."

Suddenly Ben's Omnitrix began to beep loudly. Ben covered his ears in fright. "What the heck!!? What's with you now!?"

Ben tapped the Omnitrix which stopped beeping and displayed a holographic 'ALERT' sign. "Someone's calling me? But the only things that can call the Omnitrix are Plumbers badges....."

Ben tapped an icon on the hologram which allowed him to access the call. Immediately the voice of Mikoto came out loud and clear.

"Ben!! Thank goodness you picked up!!"

"Mikoto?" said Ben. "What's going on!!? Are you okay!?"

"Remember what you said about always finding me if something was going horribly wrong?" said Mikoto's voice. "Well right now you might want to come back me up!" Suddenly there was the sound of an explosion in the background of Mikoto's end and then the sound of an evolved Vaxisaurian roaring in displeasure. "Yeah!! You might want to hurry!"

"Keep your Plumbers Badge's GPS on." said Ben. "I'm coming." Ben instantly changed into XLR8 in a flash of green light and shot off in a blur of speed.

XLR8 manuevered in between the buildings following the GPS signal on his Omnitrix as he shot past panicking city residents and tourists. Finally as he neared where the GPS signal was leading him after around 3.5 seconds of running, he saw a huge column of smoke.

"That doesn't look good." muttered XLR8 speeding towards what was no doubt some sort of huge fight.

XLR8 came to a stop in the old moldy alleyway that Mikoto was just in time to see Rex flying back into the cobblestone road, creating a huge crater in the ground. "You!? What the heck!?"

Rex got up spitting rocks out of his mouth. "Took you long enough! Your evil twin is like a total freak!!"

"Wait.." said Ben. "I thought you were trying to catch me! What are you doing helping us!?"
