In all his life, Ben never thought he would see a cooler place then Academy City. When he had first seen that amazing city on that day Grandpa Max had taken him when he was 13, he thought he would die just to get into a school as cool as the ones that were here. To be able to live on his own in a city whose tech was 30 years in the future, and where weird was considered normal.....and even perhaps a weirdness like the Omnitrix might be considered a normality as well, the thought was absolutely thrilling.

But now Academy City was....there was no other way to put it.......a wreck. And not just a wreck, a military fortress. The few students that Ben actually saw outside their schools or classes were being marched in straight lines by Academy City police drones, which for some reason, seemed to have grown 10 times in size since Ben last left. Ben almost considered trying to get to Azmuth's lab in the city. Knowing Azmuth, he would have devised some way to keep the lab out of Aleister Crowely's hands.

But when he got to the Tokwadai School in the Learning Garden, Misaka Mikoto, Ben, and the little girl accompanying them had to hide behind a bush as hundreds of Antiskill officers moved past the large ruins of what used to be Tokwadai Middle School.

"It's gone..." said a shocked Mikoto looking at what remained of her old school. "After all those years going there......and it's gone........"

"It's going away for a while." said Ben. "And coming back to find out that your Mom tried to clean your room, and now you can't find anything because it's all in the wrong place."

"Now what?" said Mikoto. "Unless you turn into an intangible alien, we won't be able to get through......"

"Actually I don't think Big Chill or Ghostfreak will be able to do anything about that..." said Ben pointing at a strange generator machine in the center of the school rubble. "That's a Necrofriggian Shield Generator......it's designed to keep anything intangible or otherwise out. If Big Chill tried to phase through that, I would get a very nasty 'shock' so to speak....In fact I probably might kill myself as a result."

"Then where do we go from here?" said Mikoto. "We can't just rush into the labs where everyone's being held with no game plan...I mean both you and me are pretty tough fighters there's no denying....but Aleister has numbers on his side, and I doubt even Ultimate Humungousaur can contend with the tech he's got up his sleeve now."

"Well we don't have much of a choice." said Ben. "We knew this might be a suicide mission anyways......."

Ben and Mikoto looked at each other. This might be their last adventure together........

"Lets do it.." said Mikoto. "If we're going down, we're going down fighting.....and as long as it's you I'm fighting with...I'm okay."

"Then I guess we're both in agreement." said Ben. Ben looked at the little girl. "I know this is hard.... but you should probably find some place safe to hide. There's no gauruntee of living where we're going."

The little girl shook her head. "I want to stay with Ben!!"

The little girl ran over and hugged Ben like she was trying to cling to him permeanantly.

"Ben...we have to bring her." said Mikoto. "She doesn't have anywhere else to go...and anywhere else in this city would be just as much of a death trap."

Ben sighed. "Fine.....let's go. That is....if we know where to go."

"I think I have a good idea." said Mikoto. "Do you remember that building being in the Learning Garden?"

Mikoto pointed a large metal dome with yellow designs of magic ruins spread out along it (Aleister is a magician...so that figures). The dome had to be at least as large as a Vilgaxian Battle Cruiser.
