"Are you sure you don't want to go to the beach with us?" Mikayla asks me, poking her head into the hotel room once more.

"Yes," I assure her as I lay in bed. "I'm feeling a bit sick."

"Okay," Mikayla says, pulling the door close as she leaves.

When she's gone, I grab the remote and turn on the TV. I flip through the channels before finally making up my mind. I watch TV for a while, but my stomach begins to growl.

I sigh and drag myself out of bed. I should probably eat now if I want to take advantage of the hotel's free breakfast. Since I'm too lazy to get dressed, I decide to go out of the room wearing my pajama pants and the t-shirt I slept in. I slip on a pair of slippers before going out into the hall.

I push the button for the elevator and it turns blue. The wait in the empty hallway feels pretty awkward, probably because I'm still walking around in my pajamas. The elevator dings as the doors open to reveal the small space inside. I step in and push the button.

The elevator doesn't get very far before stopping to pick another person up. I get ready to stand in awkward silence with a random stranger. Instead, someone very familiar enters -someone whose picture is hanging on my wall back home at this very moment.

Tyler Joseph steps into the elevator and stands on the opposite side. I glance over at him, but quickly look away so he doesn't realize that I'm looking at him. I try to act normal, but I probably look like I'm about to explode.

I take a deep breath before turning to say something to him, "So, do you ride elevators ofter?"

What kind of question was that? Why can't I just act normal for once?

"What?" Tyler asks as he looks towards me.

"N- nothing," I stutter, my cheeks turning bright red.

Tyler holds back a laugh. "Yeah, I guess I do ride elevators often."

My cheeks turn even more red, if that's even possible. Why did he answer the question? That just makes things even more awkward for me.

I stare ahead, feeling too embarrassed to say anything else. The light on the number one shows that we've made it to the first floor. I prepare myself to dash to the closest bathroom to lock myself into a stall, but the elevator goes doesn't stop; it keeps going down. I begin to panic as the elevator stops at the hotel basement.

"Um," Tyler looks at me again. "Is this where you were going?"

"No," I answer, still embarrassed for asking such a stupid question earlier.

Tyler reaches in front of me and pushes the first floor button. We wait expectantly, but nothing happens. He presses it again, but the elevator still

"I don't think it's going to work," I say nervously.

"Don't worry, I'll just push this!" Tyler pushes the button to open the doors. I desperately hope they open, but they remain immobile.

"I'm calling the front desk," I inform him as I pull my phone out of the waist of my pants. I hold my phone up to my ear as I wait for someone to pick up. When someone answers, I explain our situation to them. I listen to what they have to say carefully. I end the call before turning to Tyler.

"The good news is that they called a repair man," I tell him.

"What's the bad news," he asks me.

I look down at my feet. "The closest one is about hour away."

Tyler slides down the wall of the elevator until he is sitting on the floor. "I guess we might as get comfy."

"Yeah," I agree and sit across from him.

"So, what were your plans for this morning?" Tyler asks me to break the silence.

"Oh," I say surprised that he's actually talking to me. "I was going to go to the beach with some of my friends, but I wasn't feeling very good right before they left."

"What a coincidence," Tyler says. "I was going to go to the beach today, but decided that I would rather spend today just relaxing in the hotel."

"Maybe if we both went to the beach, we'd find an elevator to get stuck in there, too," I joke.

Suddenly the elevator lights go out. Tyler groans in the pitch black. "This just gets better and better," he says sarcastically.

"Well, you know what they say. When you it rock bottom, the only way to go is up," I say sarcastically.

"Metaphorically and literally," Tyler replies to my terrible attempt at making a joke.

We both turn on the flashlights on out phones to light up the dark elevator. "If some weird alien comes, he's eating you first," I joke, feeling less awkward than I was earlier.

Tyler laughs. "Our lives are slowly becoming a horror movie."

Tyler and I talk for a while, asking each other the most random questions we can think of, like what eye we look at while making eye contact or favorite dog breeds. It's actually a lot of fun being stuck in an elevator with my favorite singer.

When the doors finally open and the lights come back on, it feels as if Tyler and I had only been talking for a few minutes. It's kind if dissapointing that Tyler and I will be going our separate ways after this.

An employee leads Tyler and I up some stairs and then out into the lobby.

"I'm guessing the free breakfast is over," I say dryly as I read the time on the clock. It's almost noon. My stomach growls to remind me that I haven't eaten anything since dinner last night.

"I'm feeling pretty hungry myself," Tyler looks at me. I begin to feel a bit self-conscious. "Maybe we could go get something to eat together?" He asks hopefully.

Is he asking to spend more time with me?

I try to stay calm and not freak out. "I would love to!"

Tyler smiles. "Great! I know the perfect place!"

I go back up to the room using the working elevator and change out of my pajamas. I meet Tyler back down in the lobby.
