~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Rose's POV
I woke up with a start.
Last night I kept tossing and turning due to the scratch marks on my back and when sleep finally came it was nothing but nightmares.
I was running in the dark. I couldn't see anything in front or behind me. All I could hear was my heart beating in my ears and a menacing laugh that sent shivers down my spine. Suddenly a door appeared and my dream-self had thought it was safe and ran threw it with the intention of getting away from whatever was chasing me.
Once the door was shut I felt safe until I felt something wrap around my body, cocooning my entire being in thin wed like strands. I screamed as I felt the a threatening presence appear all around. I kicked, punched and screamed yet nothing happened. I didn't want to give up and I just kept fighting.
Then suddenly something wrapped around my throat and the air that was in my lungs escaped me. I thrashed around but to no avail I was trapped and about to die. As I felt myself get light headed from the lack of air a pair of red orbs appeared. Well, more like small glowing wings.
They came closer and I felt someone's warm breath fan my face.
"I got you~", a very familiar voice whispered into my ear.
That's when I screamed like bloody murder and woke up.
After that I decided that sleep was not an option and went out for a predawn hunt with Bruce, since he had sensed my distress and had also woken up, while I let the chickens and Laylee sleep.
We walked up the mountain as the storm that had raged on last night finally took a break. The sunrise was the most beautifulthing to witness. The sunlight reflected against the mountains that were covered in heaps of snow causing a rainbow to shine across the sky until the sun had risen completely.
I set sneers and nets up in a 100 meter radius of the cave so that I wouldn't stray to faraway. After all the traps were laid I climbed up into a tree and hid amongst the snow covered branches, waiting for some kind of animal to appear.
Bruce went ahead and did some hunting of his own. He may not have the best sense of smell but that dog could still catch a rabbit or two if he needed to.
I huddled up tight, my tranquilizer gun at the ready and my glasses clean. I slowed my breathing and my heart rate so that I could hear everything around me. I could hear birds silently flying to their nests, where their partners kept their eggs warm from the harsh winter, the drizzle like snow settling on the shrubs and trees and the scatter of a lone deer nearing my position. I looked to my right and I could clearly make out the silhouette of the deer as it approached cautiously through the snow covered shrubs.
I took aim, took three calming breathes and fired.
The deer ran southwards for about 20 meters before the tranquilizer started kicking in and it's movements became sluggish. It staggered, tripped and finally tipped over and landed with a "thud" in the snow.
I threw my gun down before I made the descent myself. I quickly ran over to the fallen creature, tied it's legs up and slowly but surely started pulling it towards the cave again.
The deer was gonna be out for about an hour and I really needed to be back before that hour was up. Because when it was time for the deer to wake up it was close to the time when the snowfall would increase.
