"Why do we have to go?" Kian complained as he and Seán got in the backseat of dad's car, "If anything shouldn't you just be sending Demi off? We'll be good here!"

"Like I said to you before," dad said as he got in the car and buckled himself up, "Julie and I want the weekend to ourselves this week. Besides, your grandma is just down the road and she said she'd love to see you guys."

"For the whole weekend?" Seán complained.

"Can you two shut up and be grateful you have a fucking roof over your heads?" I snapped at them while staring out the window.

"Shut up Demi. I bet you're the reason we're being sent off to the retirement community in the first place." Kian countered, earning a snigger from Seán.

"All of you, quiet." Dad ordered as he pulled out of the driveway and started driving. "And Demi, don't swear."

"They started it," I mumbled to myself, resting my chin in the palm of my hand. I watched the trees whiz by as dad drove down towards the retirement community where grandma was located.

"Hey Demi," Seán said, causing me to turn my head back from the front seat to face him, "Have you and Rodrick kissed again since the party?"

This question made my dad's ears perk up. "What did he just say?" I widened my eyes and reached over to hit Seán on the head. "No, Demi, face the front and answer me." My dad ordered, making Seán give me a devious smirk as I turned and faced him.

"Seán's being an idiot, dad." I explained.

"Kissed? Rodrick? You're dating that punk?" Dad said, getting noticeably angry.

"No! We're strictly friends, dad!" I said, turning to glare at Seán.

He pulled up in front of Leisure Towers and Seán and Kian got out immediately. Dad turned to face me. "You kissed him?"

"No!" I said, "We bumped into each other. That's all!"

He raised his eyebrows. "And you're not lying to me?"

I shook my head fiercely as my grandma from my mother's side came out front to greet us. "I promise, dad. We're just friends." Dad nodded before facing the front again, not wanting to have another word. I rolled my eyes and got out with my overnight bag before dad zoomed off.

"Oh, was your dad in a hurry?" Grandma said, watching the car zoom off.

"Yeah," I lied, turning to her and smiling. "Hey, grandma."

My grandma was your typical, way too nice for this world with a heart as sweet as the amazing cookies she baked for us type of grandmother. She was a short lady with short and curly white hair and circular glasses sitting on her nose. She wore a white shirt covered in a light floral design, long pants and slippers, along with a thin, light blue cardigan. Basically, the opposite of my grey muscle tank, black denim shorts, black converses and very dark eye makeup.

"Oh, Demi," grandma said with a grin as she pulled me into a hug, "It's so lovely to see you." I smiled at her once we pulled away. "And my, look how much you've grown!"

I let out a soft chuckle as she lead the three of us through the main reception area and to her room. Her room was a small apartment complex with two small bedrooms, both with two single beds; a small kitchen; and a living room with a small television and a two seater couch. Seán and Kian already claimed one of the bedrooms so I resorted to sleeping in the same room as grandma. I didn't mind though; in fact, I preferred to sleep with her rather than one of my annoying brothers, so they did me a favour.

"Why don't we go down the the games room, hm?" Grandma suggested. I smiled in agreement while Seán and Kian groaned. "Come on, boys! I only get to see you for the next two days."
