Kabanata 14

I was looking at a photo album. It was me and Maddie's photos, we were smiling like there's no tomorrow.

The first photo was when she was in Acropolis club, she's so stubborn and hard headed but God knows I love her.

The second photo was when she was grumpy for no apparent reason other than the fact thay she's grumpy naman talaga sometimes.

Maddie is the type of person na, who'll complain about everything like the weather, people, music or even about me and I just have to deal with it. There are days rin when sheshuts the world out, she'll ignore me just because she just wants to sit in silence.

There are days na when she'll cry I have to shut up because I don't why and I'm not allowed to ask so I'll just let her cry; there are days rin when she'll yells at me for no reason and will apologize two seconds later; there are days rin naman na she's a pain in the ass and pushes my buttons and when she knew na napipikon na ako, she'll make lambing na and tell me how much she loves me; there are days rin na when I need her to make decision for me, for us, she'll refuse and say "ewan ko" until I give up and decide for us.

Sometimes she'll make jokes during times when she should probably be serious and make banats for me to shut up. Sometimes she's so clumsy and she's a walking contradiction; but she's my everything.

"Iniisip mo nanaman si Maddie."

I smiled. "I always do, ate Ly."

"Where's Maddie pala?" Ate Ly asked me.

"I don't know?"

Nagayang gumala sila ate Ella kaya I have no choice kundi ang ipagdrive sila. I was with Ate Ly, Ate Ella, Ate Amy, Jho and Jia.

"Wait, can we go to Dra. Almazan's clinic muna?" Jia asked.

"Ano gagawin mo dun?" Tanong ni Ate Ly.

"May kukuhanin lang."

So, we went to where Jia's prof is. Buti nalang at walang traffic pero bago pa kami makababa ng sasakyan ay natigilan kami ng nakita namin kung sino yung kakalabas lang sa clinic ni Dra. Almazan.

"Is that Maddie?" Ate Amy asked.

"What was she did naman here?" Jia asked rin.

Why was Maddie went to a psychiatric clinic?! What is this, Maddie? May nililihim ka ba sa amin?

Hindi na kami bumaba pa, bumalik na kami ng bahay kaagad. Lahat kami nagiisip kung bakit pumunta doon si Maddie. Bakit? Anong nangyri?

"Tanungin nalang natin si Maddie.." Ate Ella said.

"Besh, ilap si Maddie satin." Wika ni Ate Ly.

We all sighed. Umakyat na ako sa kwarto namin. It was slightly open, I heard Maddie na may kausap yata sa phone niya.

"Yes, baby. Ipapasyal kita." Who's baby?

"Don't cry na ah? I missed you."

"I love you too."

Hindi ko na pinakinggan pa yung usapan nila. Masakit na kasi. Sino yung baby niya? Si Tots ba? Sila na ba? Kailan pa? Huli na ba ako?

Nagulat ako nung sinabayan ako ni Maddie na pababa sa hagdan. She was smiling na parang wala siyang problema. I saw Tots sa sala, baka nga. Baka nga sila na. Fuck, second chance. Fuck, everything.

"Maddie." Ate Ella called her. "Can I ask you something?"

"No, besh." Pigil ni Ate Ly.

"Ano ba?! Kaya tayo nagkakaproblema kasi ayaw niyong aminin na may problema tayo!" Hysterical na si Ate Ella.
