Flag Mishaps. {Color Guard AU}

Tord sighed pinching the bridge of his nose. He'd been trying to teach Tom how to throw the flag up for about 3 hours now, and every time Tom would either not catch it or not even throw it.

Tord deeply inhaled, picking his own flag up, "Okay, Tom watch very closely."

Tom huffed in annoyance, nodding slightly.

"This toss is a lot like when people toss up pizza, you know? You hold it even, and push up with both of your hands." Tord demonstrated it, and looked back over to Tom, "See?"

Tom looked down at the 6 foot flag, "Um.... Sure?" Tom attempted it again, only for the flag to come crashing down on the ground with an ear piercing ring.

Tord winced a bit, sighing. He was beginning to think it was hopeless.

"You can't be afraid of the flag, you've got to have confidence!"

" Something I don't have, "Tom mumbled, picking his flag back up.

Tord rolled his eyes," Come on, Tom! I know you can do this! Look, even Matt can do it... Sort of? "

The two turned over to see Edd and Matt giggling. Matt threw up the flag, it spinning, and then him catching it only fumbling a bit. Edd congratulated him, giving him a high-five before the moved on to the next count.

Tom crossed his arms, "Well maybe this just isn't for me!"

"That mood isn't going to get you anywhere," Tord stated, spinning his flag out of boredom.

"Whatever," Tom mumbled, holding the flag back level.

Just before Tom was about to start, Tord stopped him.

"Your hands are in the wrong position," Tord walked over, moving Tom's hands the way they should be.

Tom nodded a bit, taking a deep breath before throwing the flag up. He reached up, grabbing the flag just above his head.

Tom smiled a bit in victory, "Ha! I caught it!"

Tord smiled back, "Good! ....Just one thing, when catching the flag, let it come to you, don't hold your hands up."

Tom frowned, "Ugghh!!!"

Tord nudged Tom, "Come on, you can do it!"

" Shut up, commie! "

"I'm just trying to help!"

" I can do it! "

"Do it than!"

Tom pushed Tord away, putting his flag and hands back into position before doing it once more, but caught it correctly.

"FINALLY! THE MAN'S GOT IT!" Tord screamed in relief.

Tom hit Tord in the side with the flag, making him stumble over a bit, "SHUT UP!"

Tord scoffed, " HEY! I'M JUST TRYING TO HELP! "

"I CAN HANDLE IT!"
