Two weeks went past and it was finally the day that we left for Australia. All my friends had slept over the night before, and the whole house was empty except for the few mattresses on the floor in the living room. It was finally time to say good-bye to everyone, and it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. I made a lot of promises to everyone that we would call each other and send each other post cards of everything that was happening. The time was finally here, I quickly ran upstairs to make sure I had gotten everything and found a little red box with a gold ribbon wrapped around it on the floor. Mum was frantically calling my name, so I didn’t open the box, but I carefully put it in my pocket and ran for the car. As we slowly started to drive off, I was waving to everyone, blowing kisses and making funny faces. Then as we finally left the street I couldn’t help myself but burst into tears. I cried myself to sleep and woke up a couple of hours later. The car had stopped and I was left in the car alone. It was 12:45 in the afternoon, and realized we had been driving all morning. I looked out the window to find that we had stopped at a fast food place, and just thought that my sister must have gone to the bathroom or something. Mum had left a sticky note on the dashboard that read, ‘just gone to get some lunch, don’t worry will be back shortly.’ As I sat up in my seat, I sat on something hard and pointy. “Ouch!” I yelled. I reached into my pocket and pulled out the red box I had found in my room. It was new, so I assumed it was from one of my friends or someone. I slowly started to unwrap the gold, sparkly ribbon that was tied in a neat bow on top of the box. As I opened the lid, I saw a gold chain with a love heart locket attached to it. As I picked up the chain, I discovered it was a beautiful gold necklace with Alli and Angel=BFF carved into the locket. I opened the locket to find a picture of Alli and I from when we were younger. And yes, once again I started to cry. As I began to put the necklace on, I saw a tiny piece of paper sticking out from underneath the padding. The necklace was beautiful, it was all gold and had little diamonds encrusted into the locket. I slowly pulled out the piece of paper from underneath the padding. As I started to unfold the pieces of paper, Jade opened the car door, with a mouthful of hot fries. “Jade! Don’t do that! You scared me!” I said. “Wow angel, that’s pretty! Is that from your boyfriend?” Jade asked smiling, touching the necklace with her greasy fingers. “No,” I said sternly, knowing mum was listening, ushering Jades hand away, “it’s from Alli. I am never going to take it off!” I declared. “Oh wow, that is pretty! That is very sweet of her.” Replied mum smiling. “Come on now, everyone hurry up and get in! We still have a fair while to go!” ordered dad. As we started on the road again, mum passes me back a hot, brown paper bag. “Here you go honey, just got what you always order.” She said, smiling. “Thanks mum.” I said, smiling back at her. As the car filled up with the smell of takeaway, mum suggested that we play a game of eye spy. Mum could tell that I was still very upset so instead started talking about the new house and how she has organised an interview at school for us already. I stared to completely zone out and started to read the letter from Ally. Ally was a beautiful girl with a heart of gold; her letter was absolutely adorable and I knew I was really going to miss her; I was really going to miss everyone.
