It was Jai and Tom, and they were late for class. “Mr Waetford and Mr Hills. What is your excuse for being late today?” Mr Murray questioned with a serious look on his face. I don’t think Jai or Tom saw me; and they didn’t dare loose eye contact with Mr Murray. “None sir.” Jai and Tom both answered looking down at the ground. “Hurry up boys, find a seat. Next time it will be detention for both of you.” Mr Murray ordered. As Jai scanned the room, he finally saw me and smiled and began to head towards the empty desk beside me. Tom followed Jai and sat at the desk in front of me. Tom turned around and gave Bridgette a kiss on the cheek and they smiled at each other and talked the whole time. I didn’t want to assume anything, but im pretty sure they were dating. I was doing the questions that Mr Murray had asked we do, and in the corner of my eye I could see Jai staring at me smiling. I looked up at Jai and smiled, and he smiled back. I was lost in his perfect eyes, his perfect smile, and his perfect hair everything. “Hey Angel?” Jai asked. ‘Oh no’, I thought to myself, ‘I hope he doesn’t ask me why I was staring at him.’ “Can you please help me with this question?” he smiled. “Um yeah sure, which one is it?” I asked smiling back at him. “Number 17.” He replied. “But that’s the first one?” I said. “Yeah I know.” He said still smiling at me. I giggled and said, “Well sure, you just do this.” For the rest of class, Jai and myself had some interesting conversations about other people and who to stay away from, and finally I question I had been dying to know. “What do you look for in a girl?” I asked him. “Well,” he said sitting up properly in his seat, “she has to have a good sense of humor, a good personality, a pretty smile I don’t know, stuff like that.” He sat there watching me smile and looking down at the floor. “What do you look for in a guy?” “Um well, he has to know how to treat a girl right, has to be respectful, funny, good personality yeah stuff like that.” I said smiling at him. “There is this girl I like,” said Jai. I immediately feel butterflies in my stomach and my cheeks start to burn up. “She is insanely beautiful, great personality, gorgeous smile, best sense of humor, knows how to keep a good conversation going, friendly to everyone.” I feel my heart sink and I don’t want to listen anymore. ‘Maybe Jai’s moved on, maybe he doesn’t like me anymore, maybe its someone else. Don’t get your hopes up Angel,’ I said thinking to myself again. “Well she sounds perfect!” I said smiling, trying not to seem jealous. “Yeah she is.” He said smiling at me. Then the bell rang and it was time for break. Mr Murray had forgotten all about checking people’s work, so everyone just walked out of the classroom. As we were walking out of the classroom, Bridgette volunteered to take me up to the office to get my lock and find where my locker is going to be, while Jai and Tom went off to lunch. “So I heard you and Jai talking just before.” Bridgette said smiling at me. I laughed and said, “Yeah it was a pretty weird conversation.” “He really likes you Angel. I can tell just by the way he talks to you.” I stared at the ground smiling. “I don’t want to seem like I was eavesdropping, but you know when he was talking about that perfect girl, he was talking about you. He was about to ask you out Angel.” Bridgette said waiting for my response.  I stopped, all of a sudden I got butterflies in my stomach and I was speechless. “Um, I think I am in love with him. But is that wrong if I only talked to him once for like 10 minutes and then only just today? Should I wait?” I asked Bridgette worriedly. I looked up at Bridgette, she put her hand on my shoulder, smiled at me and said, “it doesn’t matter how long you have know them, if you are in love you should date him.” I smiled at her and we kept walking to the office. We didn’t talk about that anymore, we started talking about other stuff. Once we arrived at the office, I got my lock and Bridgette showed me where my lock was and she helped me put my books into it. “Do you have somewhere to sit today Angel?” Bridgette asked me. “Yeah thanks, im sitting with Jai and his group.” I said smiling. “Thank you for everything though Bridgette.” “No worries,” she said smiling back, “call me Didge from now on.” I laughed and said, “Okay! Bye Didge!” As I walked over to join the group we had 40 minutes left, and I noticed Jai was the only one missing. When I got to the group, Kate said, “You need to go to the music room now.” She said smiling at me. “Okay.” I said with a confused look on my face.
