No one knew the struggles the girl at the back of every class took,the girl who always had the right answer to every question asked.No one had any idea of the struggles it took the girl to even get to school each morning.That was until the new neighbour arrived.
He joined the class at the start of term but only showed up around twice a week..this was what made her curious.
She learnt his name was Finn.He was twelve years old just like her and he lived next door to her.That was all she knew.Then he called for her.
Ding ding dong ding
The doorbell rang through the house.The girl, Elise,ran to get it before her mother could.She opened it and stepped outside.
"Finn,what are you doing?!" She asked nervously.
"Well,Elise it's a school morning and I thought we could go together."
Elise closed her eyes.She had no idea what to do.Finally she decided.
"Ok,I have a ballet lesson this morning so let me grab my stuff and you can come and help me train.Then we will go to school."
She watched waiting for him to roll his eyes but to her surprise he looked excited.
"I've never tried ballet before.Is it fun?"he asked.
She nodded smiling.
"Well,I love it..."
Sometime later they were at the dance studio and Finn was helping Elise with her moves.
"You're really good at this Finn!Where did you learn?"Elise asked.
"In a field in Brittany."his face creased up when he saw her confused expression.
"No,I'm just kidding!I learnt at a dance class a lot like this.Im aiming for Juilliard!"
"Come on!I think I'll do five more minutes and then we can go to school."
The five minutes passed in a flash and soon they were in the changing rooms.Finn covered his eyes as Elise got changed.
"What do you eat for breakfast?"he asked.They stopped beside a small cafe which they went into.Elise walked straight up to the counter and grabbed the small package wrapped in paper.The assistant looked round.
"Elise, there you are!Oh no!Does your friend want something too!?"
"Sorry,Kaya.Got no time!Theres the bus!"
"Have fun then!"
Finn and Elise left in a rush and boarded the bus out of breath.
"Wow,how do you keep up in class if this is your morning?"Finn asked sounding awed.
"Do you want to know?Come with me after school."
Without thinking about it Finn nodded.
"What was in the parcel?"he asked.
"FOOD!"she laughed taking a bite from a warm buttery croissant.

After school Finn met up with Elise again.
"Where are we going?"he asked after walking for thirty minutes.
Suddenly they turned into an enormous car park.
"Hey,welcome to the "detention centre ".But no ,I teach kids and this is where a lot of them hang out to do their homework."
"How does that help?"
Elise shrugged and opened the doors.Mystified Finn stepped inside.Kids were everywhere.Sprawled on the ground,sat on chairs,bean bags etc.They were drawing,colouring and Finn had to ask.
"What are they all doing?"
"Homework!"Elise whispered back with a flick of her hair.Then she raised her voice.
"Ok,guys!This is Finn!Hes gonna be around for a while so get used to him.Anyone got any problems ask us ok?"
Finn saw a number of kids nods and most of them yelled ok back.
"What do we do now?"he asked.
Elise smiled at him."Our homework of course!"
