Lily held her letter envelope with trembling fingers. It was so cool the paper they had used, very elegant copperplate although she could tell it had been typed.
She unpicked the letter and read it to herself. She knew she had an interview to get ready for.

She arrived at the detention centre and was slightly scared but pushed open the door and went inside. She gaped. The inside was a complete contrast to the plain and dull outside. The inside looked like a classroom kids would want to go into with all the tables pushed together, beanbags and books, papers  and colouring pens, pencils and crayons, there were inspirational quotes on the walls. Lily smiled and made her way toward where two people presumably Finn and Elise were sitting.
She greeted them with a wave and a smile. The girl shared a glance with the boy who nodded.
"Hello,we assume you are Lily? I am Elise and he is Finn.We run the Detention centre in a very specific way,and we give the kids tests every week. The children expect a certain level of knowledge from us to help them with their homework, but not all the children are from great backgrounds. A lot of them don't like leavingSo we support them by ensuring they have a great time here." Elise glanced at Finn who continued.
"You might be smart but this place really needs teachers, people who are smart, clever and kind so we need to ask you some questions to ensure that you are right for the role your going to undertake."
"Umm,ok.Well, what do you want to know?" Lily asked nervously.
"If a child was frustrated with their homework what would you do?" Finn looked at Elise. He was always the one who helped the kids that were struggling due to his calm nature and way of explaining things.
Lily nodded.
"Well, first I'd ask the child to show me what they are struggling with and then I'd sit with them and help them through the problem."
"What if it were writing?"
"I'd maybe suggest a topic or if they already had a topic chosen then ideas about the topic they chose."

The rest of the interview went well and Lily left feeling very pleased with herself. All the other interviews were similar and Finn and Elise knew they'd have to sit down and discuss it in the evening.

A/N these are real issues children have with homework and real solutions to their problems,I know I've sat with a child younger than me often enough and helped them through a problem or provided ideas for a bit of work.
