I Know You're Trying To Forget.

It's been two months.

To say that I haven't thought about Elise everyday is a lie.

She's all I ever think about.

Mike called this morning and told me that Elise will be coming to California in a week.

My stomach was in knots.

I didn't know if I'd be able to see her again without losing my mind.

That entire week, I tried to do things that would keep my mind off of her, but it always seemed to wander back.

Every song I've tried writing is about Elise.

It seemed like she was permanently in my head.

That Sunday, I was in my front yard watering my flowerbeds when Mike pulled up.

"Hey, I'm about to go meet Elise at the airport. Do you wanna come with?" He asked.

I hesitated a little, then nodded, "Sure." I said sighing.

We made it to the airport an hour before Elise's plane landed.

So we sat in the cafe and played a card game until they announced her flight.

"ATTENTION: FLIGHT 937 FROM LAS VEGAS IS NOW LANDING."

"There she is. Let's go." Mike said standing.

I shuffled behind him, my eyes scanning the crowd for red hair.

I spotted her before he did, "There she is." I whispered.

Elise ran and jumped into Mike's arms, "Mikey!" She squealed.

"L-Wise!" Mike said kissing her.

"I've missed you." She whispered.

"I missed you too." Mike said kissing her again.

"Vic!" She cried hugging me.

"Good to see you again Elise." I said smiling.

"You too. So where are we headed?" She asked.

"My house, where you'll be living. We're having a barbeque to celebrate your arrival." Mike said.

"Awh, thanks babe." She said smiling at him.

I sat in the backseat awkwardly silent during the ride back to Mike's, while he and Elise caught up, and laughed.

Finally Elise turned around, "Something wrong Vicky?" She asked.

I cracked my first smile of the day, because I hated that nickname, and Elise was the only one allowed to call me that.

"Nothing's wrong. I was just enjoying your stories." I said.

She smiled, "Why don't you tell one of your own? I'm sure you have plenty." She said.

I shook my head, "You know, I really don't. My past two months have been pretty bland and eventless." I said.

"Come on Vicky. You must have something." Elise said.

I shook my head, "Nope." I said.

She laughed, "Did I tell you guys about the trip I took Courtney on for her graduation gift?" Elise asked.

"No, where did you go?" Mike asked.

"New York City. It was beautiful. I almost didn't want to leave. Court certainly didn't but we had to. Besides, I knew that soon I'd be living in beautiful, sunny, California with my handsome men. So I didn't sweat it much." She said.
