We walked through grass that seemed to be 2-3 feet tall. Dark grey clouds blocked the honey sweet sun, threateningly. The air was thick and hot, swallowing us whole.

We walk up to the city entry. A large grey sign posted "Welcome to Chapman City" it once must have flashed a happy colorful light. But now it was a ghostly grey that sat dead with the C slightly hanging off.

We all stand there staring out into the city. I half expect a lonely tumble weed to fly bye in the middle of the bare city's road. The only noise that fills the abandoned streets was the nervous breathing that escaped our mouths.

I finally stepped forward, followed by the rest of the group. We silently walk on the bare road, jumping at the slightest rustle of rubbish.

As we are walking a guard creeps out of the shadows. We jump in surprise and I instinctively reach for my gun but then I stop realizing he doesn't know our true identity.

"What are you doing here?!"

"What do you mean?" I ask, hiding my face and looking down at the ground.

"You're supposed to be in town square. They're doing their random checkup." His eyes scan our faces from what he can see. He glares at us suspiciously.

"Oh, we didn't hear about that. But-um- we'll walk down there now."

"Then I will escort you." He says. But We know he's not offering to be kind, but doesn't trust us. And with good reason.

Doc speaks up, "That won't be necessary sir."

"Oh I think it is. Come on!"

he begins to walk to the side of us, slightly in front so he can see all of us but still lead.

The murmurs of a crowd soon begin to ring in our ears as we continue to walk through the empty looking city. Soon the noise dies down as we enter what must be the town square. The crowd looks at us speculatively, as our footsteps echo through the now quiet place. There seems to be two lines, one that has been checked and one who will be checked.

I bite my lip nervously as the guard's voice begins to replace the silence.

"They were found wandering around the city sir." He looks at the ground as he talks to who must be in charge. His arrogance seems to have evaporated.

The man at the front of the lines has almost completely red hair that looks like it's on fire. He has a long ridged nose that is turned downward half way, his lips are thin and grey,he has white pasty skin and he has thick eyebrows that are knitted together.

The oddest thing about him though, is the fact that he does not have almost any freckles, and those he does have are normal colored. Now that I look at his eyes that are actually not blue at all but almost black colored, giving him the look of a demon.

"Bring them here." His voice fills the square. It is deep and dominant, and almost makes you want to cower back behind the crowd of people.

Slowly we shuffle to the front but my feet feel like large stones and each time I go to pick them up, it is with great strain.

I walk up first as I try to keep my gaze locked on the ground no matter how much I want to glare back at him.

"Take off your sweatshirt." He demands.

But this is the only thing that hides my skin, and this close up it will be obvious  that I'm not one of them.

I begin to slowly pull up my sweater but before I can even get it above my stomach the startling sound of a gun rings out. I hear the cry to run and with out thinking I do begin to run, my feet hitting the ground as quickly as I ever thought was possible.

As I get a bit of a distance I see that Adrian was the one who shot the gun and he is now tackled by several random people and before I can blink they have him restrained. Some of the people that were with me fly bye but I feel frozen to the ground.

Adrian's eyes lock with mine for a moment before he screams "RUN!!!"

Before I can think, my legs begin to move. Past one building, past another, and another. I can begin to see the bridge to Springfield in the distance. I hear the stampede of people chasing after us but we're too fast. My feet beat the ground one after another and I touch the ground for a millisecond before getting to the next spot.

If I don't make it Adrian's effort would be in vain. I'm so close to the bridge but they're catching up. I have to get faster! Before I think I hop on to a car, and to another car and another, I pass some of the people that were escaping with me.

I'm about to reach the barrier, where the men are guarding the entrance, there are cars stacked upon cars to block off unwanted guests.

I'm only four cars away as I jump to a maroon car but this one seems to be farther away than the rest. Time seems to slow down as I feel my foot barely touch the car. I'm suspended into the air for a moment, then time speeds forward, I flip backwards and land on an odd angle for my leg.

Pain shoots up through my left leg as I cry out in pain, I try to stand up as I see the crowd coming nearer. But I can't move my left leg.

Then I feel a hand on my arm as it begins to pull me up. I look over and there is a pink, curly haired girl with crazy red eyes, bright red lips, a button nose, and pink tinted cheeks.

"Come on!" She urges me.

I use her for support for my left side as I hop on my right leg. We go as fast as we can which is pretty slow. I can feel the enemies getting closer, but we only have 2 cars left.

We are so close that the guards are opening the little door that lets you go through a car to get in. I can almost feel the breath of some people on the back of my neck, and once someone almost grabbed my arm but it was met with a punch.

The guards continue to shoot at them as they get closer but they do not slow down. We are about to climb into the car, when we hear a loud boom that shook the whole ground. The force of the explosion shoves me into the car as the girl gets slammed against it. I hear so many screams that my ears begin to ache in pain, I try to cover them the best I can. The screams die down but there's a constant ringing in my ear. It feels almost hard to breath and dust begins to fill the clean air.

Finally I look out of the car but I don't see the girl. But the bridge is no longer there, but only empty space and smoke.

"Help me!" I hear a scream.

I look over and there is the girl, she's hanging from a pipe that is sticking out of the bridge. Her face is covered in dust and dirt where I can only see her bright eyes staring back at me.

As quickly as I can I throw down my hand and she grabs on as I wrap my good leg around a seatbelt. I slowly pull her up with both of my hands and she is pulled into the car.

She sits breathing hoarsely, as do I.

"We made it..."
