High pitched screams followed the gunshots. I grabbed my bag and quietly slide outside with Adrian. People run out of their tents, they begin to get shot at. I look around and see a soldier... He has blue freckled skin. they must have found us and got more of them to attack. I see Andy running up behind the tents as we're crouching bye ours. I run up to him, hoping he knows what to do. "Andy-"
I get a better glance at him as the moon shines in... He has freckled blue skin and blank, blue eyes. Adrian runs up to me as I seem to be frozen by surprise, Andy is about to attack me when Adrian grabs my hand and we run. As we run, Henrick and two people behind him almost run into us, "go get the Doc we need to leave!"
"But what about all these peo-"
"NOW!"
I glare at him but run to Doc's tent, Adrian behind me, I open it up but the tent is empty, with only the lamp lighting the room. "Come on!" Adrian turns back. I look outside not able to find anything, but then part of a lab coat ketches my eye, I see Doc but he's wrestling with a infected boy, and he's losing. I grab the first weapon I see, a gun that's laying abandoned on the ground. I run up to Doc trying to wrestle away the boy, but he's too persistent, not caring if we hurt him. Almost without thinking, I shoot him. Doc stop wrestling letting the boy falls to the ground.
My eyes widen at what I have done. The boy's blank eyes staring up at me, his white face looking so innocent, blood starts to puddle around his head, all I can do is stare. But then a pare of rough hands drag me away, my eyes never leaving the dead body as I dropped the gun.
My mind snapped back to where I was, Adrian was still pulling me to the group, but I began running with him. As soon as me, Adrian, and Doc caught up with them we all began to run away from the village till we could barely hear the noise of protest and violence. We stopped to rest for a minute, I dropped my bag, I look at my hands, they have blood on them, and it wasn't my blood. The boy's face kept appearing in my mind as I tried vigorously to wipe away the blood but it would't go away.
I kept wiping, as if trying to clean away what I had done, my breathing became hoarse. Then I felt rough hands stop me, I looked up to see Adrian. "Hey, it's alright, you did what you had to do."
My breathing slowed, as I calmed down a bit, the boy's face fading away from my mind so it wasn't there every time I blinked. I let my hands fall to my side calming down more. "Okay we need to get out of here before they start heading back and see us." Henrick pulls out a map, "We need to go that way." He points south west.
We begin to run down a sort of path. As we go, my mind drifts to the man's face again. He seemed so innocent, just captured by the disease...
