Chapter 4-

After our break was over and on the first day of school my alarm went off at 6:30. I got into the shower and the hot water stung. I turned on the cold water but ended up shivering when I take a shower it’s always at one extreme it’s either burning hot or freezing cold. I ended up turning it back to hot when I got out of the shower I blow dried my hair. I put on my underwear and bra and looked at my stomach my whole body just looked horrible. It’s scarred and bruised. I wonder if I’ll ever look back to normal. I walked into my room and looked through the closet—Declan and Jenkins went and got all of my clothing from my house because Jenkins is so positive that he’ll get custody of me and because I’ll be living here for another week anyway. I couldn’t find anything that I wanted to wear when I noticed that there was a pile of clothes on my bed and a little note on the top. It said:

Good morning Rain!

Wear this, k?

Love ya,

Declan :)

He did better than what I could’ve done to cover up my body and still look cute. He laid out my skinny jeans with my brown boots, a brown and white striped long sleeve shirt, a gray vest with brown buttons on it, and a white knit hat. I smiled as I put my clothes on I looked really cute and with some…a lot of makeup I can probably cover most of the damage. I walked downstairs and went straight to the kitchen when I heard Declan whistle and say, “I knew I picked good!”

I didn’t turn around as I looked in the pantry for some food while I said, “Yes you did, thank you, I would’ve ended up in baggy jeans and a t-shirt and a hoodie if it weren’t for you.”

“I am smart! And by now it’s gone around school that you’re single so boys will be ALL over you, but don’t worry I’ll protect you.”

“Oh yeah because I’m sooo scared of a few drooling boys!”

“Don’t worry if they drool too much I’ll just kiss you and tell them to back off and that you’re mine!”

I laughed as I grabbed a small bag if mini muffins and said, “As if! Like I’ll ever be yours!”

“You never know Rain, we might be meant to be together.”

“Really? Then prove it.”

            “How do I do that?”

“I don’t know just prove it.”

“Hmmm, nah I don’t want to be your rebound guy.”

“Good point, I’m still in a lot of emotional trauma.”

“I know and who would want all that baggage?”

I didn’t respond. I knew we were joking around, but that was too far. He’s right; who would want all my baggage? I walked out the front door and I heard him say, “Rain, wait up!”

I got into the passenger seat of his car. He got in and looked at me confused, “Are you okay?”

I nodded and muttered, “Just drive.”

“We were joking around in there you know? I didn’t mean that.”

“I know, just-just drive Declan.”

We had a silent fifteen minute car ride to school. We went inside and our lockers were on different ends of the hall. Mine was on the very end and his was right there whenever you entered the school. I walked to my locker and soon enough teenagers were swarming around the halls and crowding around me. I started to feel claustrophobic. Everybody’s watching me waiting for me to say what happened. I had some of the most popular girls that I don’t even remember the names of asking me what happened and where have I been. I held my books and my back was against my locker as people crowded around me. I looked desperately for Declan all of this attention was scary to me. I felt a person grab on to my arm I don’t even know who it was everybody was trying to grab me to get my attention and somebody grabbed especially hard and I winced from the small amount of pain that went through my arm. I looked around and saw Declan trying to get through the crowd-soon the bell rang and everybody ran off to class meanwhile I stayed by my locker with Declan holding me close and whispering in my ear, “Are you alright?”
