Chapter 6-

I had been back at school now for three weeks and I’ve been avoiding Spencer since that first day eventually I couldn't avoid him and he came and said he really needed help so I agreed. Why am I nice like that? I don’t know!

After school we were back in the library at the same spot that we had been in the first time. Spencer looked up at me and asked, “Rain what did I do to make you not want to talk to me anymore?”

            “Excuse me?”

“What did I do?”

            “Nothing.”

“That’s a lousy lie, Rain.”

“Look I don’t want to get too personal with you and that’s what happened so end of story.”

Spencer sat there and processed it for a moment and said, “Okay how about we go like this I will ask you a personal question and you ask me one. If either one of us gets to for we say stop, deal?”

I whispered my agreement and he smiled, “I’ll start with easy questions: what’s your favorite color?”

“Blue and you?”

            “Red.”

“What’s your favorite band?”

            “Maroon 5.”

I smiled, “Same.”

“What do your parents do for a living?”

“They died when I was eight.”

            “I’m sorry.”

“It’s fine what about yours?”

“Just died a little over a month ago that’s why I came here.”

“How did they die?”

“They both ran a bakery together a fire started and they died in it.”

“In a town about an hour away from here?”

            “Yeah, how’d you know?”

“I was visiting the place I used to live when I was younger and saw the smoke from it.”

            “How’d your parents die?”

“Our house burned down while I was in school.”

“How long have you been with that guy you always hang around with?”

“We’re not a couple he’s just my best friend.”

“How long have you known him?”

“Since I was eight.”

“Wow, how’d you guys become friends?”

“Hold up, Spencer it’s my question.”

Spencer smiled and I asked, “Who’s your closest friend here?”

All the humor and fun of this conversation fled when Spencer stopped smiling and said seriously, “You.”

I nodded and started to feel awkward then after a moment he smiled and said,

“So how’d you and your friend become friends?”

“I was at a new school and he accidently spilled juice on me and I got mad at him and didn’t forgive him for three weeks.”

Spencer laughed and you could tell in that laugh that he didn’t have a hard time believing that. I smiled at him and my phone buzzed and I said, “I have to get going, see you later Spencer?”

            “Yeah see you later.”

I ran off to see Declan and I smiled as the car pulled up and I hopped in. Declan looked at me smiling, “You ready to get you license?”

            “Duh! I’m so excited!”

Declan laughed at me as we drove to get my license. On the way there I saw Bruce following us and I groaned and Declan asked, “What’s wrong?”

            “Bruce is behind us.”

Declan looked in the rearview mirror and sighed as he said, “Yeah he is.”

We remained silent and we were almost at the DMV when I noticed Bruce was getting closer and was close enough to hit us. I straightened up in my seat and said, “He’s getting a little too close for comfort.”

            Declan groaned, “We’re almost there.”

My eyes got wide when Bruce bumped into the back of our car. I shrieked, “Declan!”

“Calm down, Rain, we’re going to be okay we’re almost there.”

Then Bruce was gone. Declan pulled to the side of the rode and looked at the bumper and said, “The damage isn’t that bad.”

“What was he trying to do?”

“I don’t know.”

            “Declan, I’m scared.”

“We should’ve gotten a restraining order against him right after he hit you.”

“Look let’s just get my license, okay?”

“Yeah, get back in the car.”

I got in and so did Declan and I was not going to start a conversation. I could tell Declan was really mad. We got to the DMV and I started to take my driver’s test. I was doing great during the driving part. While the teacher and I were driving I stopped at a red light and saw a car speeding towards me on the left. I saw the driver who was Bruce and I saw that he was smiling an evil smile. I didn’t scream or anything as I kept my foot on the brake so I wouldn’t crash into more people. I saw images of my life flashing before my eyes then I felt the impact of the cars crashing and I blacked out.
