I heard a banging on my door and I jumped up and yelled, “Come in!”

“The door’s locked!” I heard Declan’s grumpy voice. He was still hurt from yesterday and he was never happy in the morning until he drank his coffee. I got up and opened it and he said, “In case you forgot we have school today, get ready.”

I nodded and closed my door back and sighed…today was going to be a long day. I grabbed a red tank top and some black skinny jeans and paired it up with my black leather jacket and black boots. I ran downstairs and grabbed a bagel by the time Declan came out I was ready to go. We got in the car and I started putting on my makeup and I looked over at Declan and said, “I’m sorry about yesterday, but I’m serious Declan, you are treating me as if I’m a baby that you have to constantly watch over and I’m going to be fine. Things have gone on, but I’ll make it through.”

            “Okay Rain.”

I could tell he wanted to be done with this conversation and I asked, “What night do you have church?”

He seemed caught off guard from my question and said, “Wednesday, why?”

“Just curious.”

            “Really?”

“Yup.”

            “Do you want to go?”

“I’m thinking about it.”

Declan tried to hold in his smile, but I knew that this would make him happy and honestly I wanted answers. I couldn’t get that dove out of my head. The way it flew in through the light it was weird and I wanted answers. I wanted to know why that happened. I asked Declan, “Did I tell you about that dove I saw whenever I was waking up from well…being dead?”

            “No, you didn’t.”

“There was this dove and it came in through the light as if it was coming to save me. What could that mean?”

He pulled up to the school and said, “I will talk to you more about it later, okay Rain?”

“But Declan-”

“No buts.” He said interrupting me and said, “Come on, it’s time to go.”

Declan walked around and opened up my door and we noticed a lot of people watching us. I looked at Declan with a panicked expression and he said, “Calm down, Rain, it’s just people.”

            “Don’t leave me, please.”

“Rain, we have separate classes, but don’t worry.”

            “What if he’s here Declan?”

“Then I’ll beat him up.” Declan said while he smiled his mega-watt smile. I laughed and said, “Not without my help.”

“Oh come on, darling, you can’t tell me you want to beat him up.”

“Oh but I so do! He abused me and then crashed my car and put me in the hospital!”

“I know, baby, but let me take all of your anger out on him.”

“Please I have too much anger towards him that even you couldn’t contain that anger.”

“We both have too much anger to contain the two of us. We need another person to contain all of this anger.”

“Yeah, that’s why we have Jenkins.”
