“Spencer? Hey um, what’s going on?”
“Look I won’t be at school tomorrow.”
“Why not?”
“Some….things have occurred…if you don’t hear from me or see me in three days well…I might be dead. So forget about me and pretend you never even met me, you understand?”
“Spencer—”
“I’ll talk to you later got to go!”
“Wait Spencer!” Beep.
He hung up. My heart stopped. I got under my covers just praying to a God that I’m not sure if I believed in that he would keep Spencer safe.
It was a weekend so I knew I could sleep in which is why I was mad when...”RAIN!!!!!!!” Declan yelled at the top of his lungs as he jumped up and down on my bed. I groaned and yelled, “What the heck is wrong with you?!”
He plopped down next to me and said, “I have a whole day planned for us! COME ON! GET UP!!!!!”
I groaned as I got up and I muttered, “I hate it when you have crazy plans…”
“But you love me.” He said with a smile.
“Yeah, yeah, whatever get out so I can get a shower and change.”
“You’re going to fall back asleep.” He stated.
“Yes, I am now leave!”
He sighed and said, “Okay, fine I didn’t want to have to do it the hard way…but you leave me no choice.”
“Leave Declan, let me sleep.”
I heard him huff and then a few seconds later he picked me up while yelling, “WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
He threw me back down on the bed and started tickling me while I screamed at him. Finally he stopped and I pushed him away still laughing and said, “Fine, I’m up I’ll actually get ready.”
Declan smiled at me and said, “Good now go get a shower while I pick out your clothes.”
“If you make us look like a matching couple I will puke just to try to get out of it.”
He laughed and said, “Fine I won’t make us match now hurry up.”
I ran off to the bathroom smiling. I looked in the mirror and started to water when my phone rang. I answered, “Hello?”
“Hey Rain, it’s me.”
“Spencer?”
“Yeah, I just wanted you to know I’m okay right now, but I have to leave.”
“Spencer what’s going on?”
“I need to leave, bye.”
He hung up and I sighed and went into the steaming water. When I walked back in my room I looked around to see what Declan picked out for me. I saw a long sleeve black and white polka dot dress with a pair of black boots. I got dressed and blow dried my hair then quickly curled it and put on a little bit of makeup then ran downstairs. The way Declan looked at me sent shivers down my spine. I smiled at him and asked, “Are you ready to go?”
He smiled, “Yes, come on.”
I followed him out the front door and went to the car. He got in and started driving us off. After being in the car for an hour I looked at him and asked, “Where are we going?”
“You’ll see.”
“Declan…”
After another half hour we pulled up to an amusement park. I looked at Declan and smiled as I asked, “Why did you bring me here?”
“I thought you would like it.”
I hugged him and exclaimed, “You’re the best!”
He chuckled and kissed my forehead and said, “Are we just going to talk about how I’m the best or are we going to experience why I’m the best?”
I smiled at him and then ran towards the park with Declan right on my heels. I opened my mouth in amazement. I had never been to a fair-ever! I had always wanted to go to one but my aunt would never take me. I looked over at Declan as he bought some cotton candy. He held it out to me and said, “Try it.”
I tasted it and he smiled as my eyes widened in happiness. He pulled me close and said, “You like it?”
“Yeah, but Declan why did you do this?”
He smiled and kissed my cheek then said, “Consider it as a first date.”
I took a step away from him and said, “Date?”
“Yeah.”
“No, Declan, no this no! This can’t be a date!”
“I’m sorry I thought you would like it.”
“Well of course I like it but Declan I don’t want to date you!”
His eyes flashed from being happy to sad to frustrated. I shook my head and said, “I’m sorry, Declan, I really appreciate this but I’m not ready for a relationship and you want a Christian girl and I’m not sure if I’m going to be one.”
“No, it’s my fault…it just seemed like you were giving me the signals that you were wanting to be in a relationship…I’m sorry I should’ve talked to you about it.”
“Declan it’s not that I’m against-”
“Rain, could we please just pretend that I never said anything and just enjoy our time here?”
I could see from the look in his eyes not to push the subject so I just nodded my head while Declan flashed me his signature smile and grabbed my hand and said, “Come on.”
