The kiss was sweet. Sweeter than anything I have ever tasted. His lips tasted like cotton candy he tried to deepen the kiss and at first I wouldn’t let him and when he tried again I did and when his tongue entered my mouth it was the best thing in the world. This sweet taste exploded inside my mouth that made me want more and more. We realized soon that it was about to be time to get off the Ferris wheel. We separated and neither one of us said a word as we got off the ride and walked out of the park to our car. We got in the car and Declan glanced at me and asked, “Did it mean anything?”

            I muttered, “Yes.”

His smile grew big as he asked, “Yes?”

I laughed seeing his expression and said, “Yeah, but Declan, I need some time before we take the next step, okay?”

Declan nodded still smiling as if he won the lottery and I continued, “I’m still trying to figure out things and I need you to be patient with me. I need to wait a little bit longer before I get into a relationship.”

“I understand Rain, I’m just happy you’re considering it.”

I smiled at him and looked out the window and eventually felt my eyes drooping and I let myself fall asleep. The next thing I know I was in a strong pair of arms and I was being carried. I started opening my eyes as I realized what was going on and Declan lightly pushed my head back against his chest and said, “Just keep sleeping Rain.”

I felt his chest vibrate when he talked. He took me upstairs and set me down in my room. He was about to leave when I spoke softly, “Declan?”

Declan looked back at me and walked towards my bed and asked, “Yes?”

I patted my bed and Declan’s face lit up and he got in the bed. He wasn’t under the covers with me but he kissed my forehead and held me close as I fell asleep in his arms. When I woke up Declan was gone and my phone was ringing. I grabbed it and answered drowsily, “Hello?”

            “Rain.”

“Spencer?”

            “Hey.”

“Um…hi.”

            “Can you meet me somewhere?”

“Where at?”

            “The park.”

“What park?”

            “The one in your neighborhood.”

“I don’t have a park.”

“You live with your aunt, don’t you?”

“Oh yeah! Sorry I just woke up I’m still kind of tired.”

            “So…can you meet me there?”

“What time is it?”

            “A little past midnight.”

“Spencer…I don’t know.”

“Please Rain, don’t you trust me?”

I sighed, “Fine I’ll be there in fifteen minutes.”

            “Thank you.”

“If I get hit, raped, or killed it’s on you.”

He laughed and said, “You won’t get hit, raped, or killed, please just meet me.”

I sighed, “Fine.”

I hung up and looked outside where it looked like it had just started snowing. I walked into my closet and put on a pair of jeans, some fuzzy socks and boots, and a long sleeve shirt and a jacket. Inside the jacket I put a pair of gloves and I put on a knit hat. I slowly walked out of my room careful to not step on the creaks. I walked all the way downstairs and grabbed my purse that was on the counter then I walked out of the house wondering if this was a mistake.

15 minutes later.

I was at the park. I was sitting on a bench-shaking not because I was cold but because I was nervous. I noticed a figure walking towards me and I stood up getting ready to run just in case it wasn’t Spencer. Turns out it was him. I ran and gave him a hug and I heard him grunt. I moved away nervous because I mean I’m not a heavy girl and a hug like that shouldn’t have him grunting. I looked at him waiting for a response and he said, “Sorry, I think I have a broken rib or two.”

            “Why? What happened?”

He chuckled but I could tell from his expression that it pained him to do so, “That’s why I wanted to see you.”

            “What do you mean?”

“First of all Rain- I like you a lot and I hope that what I’m about to tell you won’t change the way you think about me.”

            “Okay…” I responded in a wary tone.

I was starting to wish that I told Declan where I was going…but I know he wouldn’t of let me come. I waited for Spencer to continue and he told me, “There’s several different reasons why I show up with bruises or busted ribs.”

            “Like?”

“Like…my dad is abusive, we are in a lot of debt and when we don’t make our monthly payment this is what happens to me and my dad, and well…the people that we are in debt to well…Rain I was in a gang.”
