I took a quick shower and blow dried my hair. I looked at the mirror and took in my long dark brown hair, gray eyes, and thick lips. I smiled at myself and exposed perfect straight white teeth. My parents were really big on healthiness before everything went downhill. I saw my dimples and stopped smiling. I was amused by it for a while but then realized I looked like an idiot. I brushed my hair and pulled on my Raiders sweats and a black V-neck. I went into my room and crashed almost immediately.
When I woke up I was super stoked for the day. I have that interview and I am just praying I get it. I changed into my Devil Wears Prada shirt and some shorts. I straightened my hair and did some light makeup. I grabbed my bag and went out the door. Everyone was passed out.
Preston picked me up. My mom couldn’t afford a car for me so I had to bum rides off all my other friends. We drove to school in silence. Or maybe he was talking I don’t know I put on my earphones and shut off the world. So if he was talking I wasn’t hearing. I pulled out my earphones when the school came into view.
“…you know what I mean? It was like I’m pouring out my heart to you and you don’t even care! I swear girls are dumb.” He shook his head and I busted up laughing.
“How long have you been talking?” I asked still laughing.
“Since you got in.”
“I’ve been listening to music.” I said still smiling and he laughed.
“How fucking dumb ass of me. You probably would have said something to me.” He shook his head and we walked up to the school together.
I wonder who he was talking about and what feelings. Oh well. We met up with the group and just fucked around until the bell rang.
“Ugh, I don’t want to go to class.” Tina whined.
“Would you rather go to my car?” Clay winked at her and she giggled.
“Take me you stud!” She joked and we laughed.
Tina hasn’t been with anyone in our group. She won’t even risk it. I don’t know why but I like it. We went our separate ways. Preston and I had most our classes together so we hung out most the time at school.
“Hey,” Preston whispered during class.
“What?” I asked back irritated.
“What are you doing after that interview?” He asked and I shrugged.
“Why? You got something planned?” I asked and he smiled mischievously.
“I’ll call you around five.” He didn’t say anything more and I shrugged.
I don’t want to go to another rave so I hope it’s not that. The day dragged on until lunch. I was sitting with The Gang when a girl approached she looked kind of familiar but I couldn’t put my finger on it so I ignored her.
“Ray…” I stopped what I was doing and stared at her.
“Fay?” I asked, squinting my eyes at her.
My mouth dropped open. Oh. My. God.
“What the hell? I thought you moved to Europe!” I got up and hugged the beautifully tan girl.
Ray and Fay, that’s what everyone called us. We were the inseparable duo and then her parents moved in sixth grade.
“We came back just last week!” She shouted excitedly.
“Sit down!” I motioned for Clay to scoot and he did not mind.
“Guys, this is Fay. She was my other half for the longest time. Fay this is Clay, Tina, Preston, Cory, and Mira.” I put my arm around Mira and everyone said hi.
