My phone started going off and I glanced at it, Preston. I looked at Caspian and he nodded at me.

“Hey.” I answered and I heard Preston sigh.

“That was too good to be true. I liked her a lot, I still do but I can’t be with her. She’s too controlling!” Preston wouldn’t let me get a word in edge wise.

“Wait, slow down.”

“Okay how about lets me and you get drunk? I promise no hard liquor.” He said and I sighed.

“When?”

“How about in an hour or two. I’ll get the booze and we can drink in your basement, yeah?” I smiled remembering all the crazy drunken/high nights in that basement.

“Sounds good. We’ll talk later.” I said before hanging up.

“It was Preston.” I said to Caspian.

“What’s going on?”

“They broke up. He’s not having much luck with girls lately. He wants to hang out in a couple hours, get his mind off of stuff.” I shook my head.

“You’re a good friend.” Caspian smiled at me and I returned it.

“Yeah I guess.” I replied.

The food got there and I ate quickly. Caspian, somehow, managed to finish before me.

“Thank you so much.” I said again as we left.

“Not a big deal.” He replied with an adorable smile.

“I guess I’ll see you later.” I said as we got outside.

“Let me drive you home.” I accepted his offer and got in his car. “Are you gonna go to that party because if not I don’t see me going.”

Was he…flirting with me?

“Yeah I’ll be going. Just call me.” I bit my lip.

“Good. I don’t want to be the only cool person there.” He joked and I smiled.

“Sorry you aren’t cool.” I retorted and he grabbed his chest.

“That hurts, doll.” He laughed and I just smiled.

He pulled up to my house and I got out. “Later.”

“I’ll call you.” He smiled one last time before driving off.

I was about to go inside when another car pulled up.

“Array!” Preston shouted and I smiled at him.

“Let’s get to it.” I said. I let him in and told him to hide the beer from my dad the best he could but my dad wasn’t there.

“Where is everyone?” Preston whispered and I laughed.

“We’re in my house not stealing from someone else’s. My mom is at work and my dad is probably at the bar.” I led the way to the basement and he followed quietly.

“I feel like an intruder.” He whispered again.

“Quit it.” I replied and he smiled.

“Just messing with you, Ray.” I rolled my eyes.

“So what were you doing when I called? Mira told me you took off.” Preston sat next to me on the old couch.

“Caspian picked me up and took me out to eat. I told him the story and we ran into Fay then you called. Nothing too exciting.” I stated and Preston waggled his eyebrows.
