I got in the car with Mira and she was smiling hugely.

“What happened?” I asked skeptically.

“Preston asked me out on a date. Like a date, date.” She drove to the theaters blabbing about the date and how amazing it’s going to be.

We had a good time. I don’t remember whether the movie was good or bad but me and Mira always make the movie fun. We went back to her place and her mom greeted me warmly. Her mom was super touchy feely. Anything you said or did usually deserved a hug or a pat on the back. Sometimes even a kiss on the cheek.

“I heard about that Zoe girl. She’s such a…such a…bitch!” She started giggling.

I was thrown off. Her mom never cusses or drinks and she was doing both.

“Mom, have you been drinking?!” Mira shook her head then led me to her room without another word to her mother.

“What is your mom drinking for?” I whispered and Mira sat down.

“I don’t know she doesn’t talk to me about it. My dad doesn’t know either. She just started drinking wine with a girlfriend of hers and now she does it twice a week. It’s not a problem but it might become one.” Mira looked upset and I thought about my dad.

“I hope it doesn’t.” I simply said.

We decided to Netflix it all night. We watched random movies and then got stuck on this show Dr. Who. We watched a whole season before passing out. Mira woke me up and I checked the time, it was one in the afternoon.

“How long did we stay up?” I said sleepily.

“I have no idea.” Mira replied.

“Starbucks?” I said suddenly awake and she hopped up, running out of the room.

“I call the shower!” I yelled and she groaned.

“Hurry up.” She trudged back in.

“Not a problem.” I grabbed my backpack and went into the bathroom.

I did my usual shower routine when I was at Mira’s. I got in brushed my teeth, washed my hair, then my body, hopped out, dressed, and then blow dried my hair. I was excited for the day. Mira and I needed some girl time. I came out of the bathroom to see a hung over Mrs. Tart.

“Hey dear. When did you get here?” She asked with her hand on her head.

“Last night…you talked to me.” I said quietly and she laughed.

“I drank too much wine. Sorry.” She shuffled into the bathroom and I walked off to the bedroom.

“Mira, your mom has a hangover.” I stated as I walked in.

Mira gestured for me to shut up.

“No she isn’t here right now. Can I call you back though? My mom is sick.” She hung up the phone and I realized it was mine.

“Who was that?!” I shrieked and she laughed.

“It was Preston. I told him not to call you anymore and he did.”
