It was summertime and you were spending the summer at home in Winnipeg. You had to go get some groceries for your grandma so you headed over to a nearby Sobeys. The list you had wasn't overly long. You just needed eggs, milk, bread, the usual stuff. You were happy to go and get the stuff for your grandma- you were very close.

You had grown up in Winnipeg but went to University in Chicago since they had a really good physical therapy program. You were studying to become a physical therapist, since you'd had your fair share of sports injuries throughout high school. That was your inspiration to becoming one.

You got to the Sobeys and easily got all of the things on your grandma's grocery list. The last thing on the list was baking powder, since your grandma loved to bake. You walked to the baking supplies aisle and reached up for it. It was a high reach since they kept it stocked on the top shelf. Suddenly you saw a muscular arm reach up and grab the jar off the shelf.

"Here you go miss." a deep voice said from behind you. You turned around to look into these gorgeous dark brown eyes.
"thanks, you didn't have to.." you blushed, taking the jar of baking powder from him thankfully.
"It's no big deal, I'm Jonathan." he held out his hand for you to shake.
"Y/N," you replied, shaking his hand. That's when you recognized him.
"Jonathan, as in Jonathan Toews?" you asked quietly, not wanting others to hear. The last thing you wanted to do for this nice man who just helped you was to make a scene and draw a huge crowd.

"Yes ma'am, are you a hockey fan?" he asked, smiling.
"You bet! I love the Hawks! I actually go to university back in Chicago." you explained, a huge grin on your face. You couldn't believe it! You were actually meeting Jonathan Toews!
"That's pretty cool! I'll have to get you tickets to a game sometime next season," he offered.
"That'd be awesome!" you replied, still very excited.

"Well it was nice meeting you y/n, but I better get going, my mom's waiting on me to bring her these groceries," he said. You were a little disappointed that you couldn't talk longer but you were still happy that you met him.
"Yeah, my grandma's probably wondering where I am too." you explained.
"Can I get your number? You seem pretty cool, maybe we can hang out or something," he suggested.

You certainly weren't gonna say no to that.
"Yeah, give me your phone!" you happily replied. You exchanged numbers and said bye.

That evening you got a text from Jonathan, asking if you wanted to go to the Forks the next day to hang out. Of course you said yes!

This was going to be the greatest summer!
