It was finally time! Graduation day. You were so excited that you were finally done with high school, and that you could get out into the real world.
You and your friends were happily getting ready for grad together, as this would be your last time doing so. Your friend Becky was leaving for Europe the next day, and your other friend Kylee was doing a summer program at the university she would be attending in the fall. That meant this was the last day your great trio would spend together.
You finished curling your hair and doing your makeup, and it was almost time to go. You quickly put on your dark blue dress, which had intricate beading all along the bust. It looked perfect on you! The three of you walked to the limo that you rented, and the driver took you to your school gymnasium where grad would be taking place.
Since you went to a school in Edmonton, the president of your grad committee managed to get Taylor Hall from the Edmonton Oilers to be a guest speaker at you grad. You were so pumped! Normally it would be a person who graduated from your school like a kagillion years ago but this year they actually managed to get somebody cool to come speak! Not to mention cute. You daydreamed about Taylor the rest of the ride to the school.
You finally arrived at the school, and the three of you hopped out of the limo. None of you had dates because you were all too close with the guys at your school to go out with them. You smiled and chatted with other girls that were there, complimenting each other's dresses and hair. You all put on the gowns and caps, and finally it was time.
You all walked through the gym, making your way to your seats on the stage. You smiled out at the crowd, and laughed at your principal's lame jokes. Finally it was Taylor's turn to speak. He talked about perseverance, and how it was important to follow your dreams, no matter how much work it may take to achieve them. You couldn't help but notice that he was even cuter in person than on tv. You didn't even know that was possible.
Finally the ceremony was over, and you were done high school! You all headed to a nearby banquet hall for dinner and the social, which Taylor would also be attending so he could talk with people, take pictures, etc. You were so happy that the grad committee president had his connections!
Once you got there, You were looking down at your phone because you were texting your cousin from out of province. The next thing you knew, you had bumped into something- or someone, for that matter.
"Sorry! I wasn't..." you were quick to apologize, and felt even more stupid when you realized who you had crashed into.
"It's alright, no harm done," Taylor Hall smiled down at you. "I'm Taylor," he said, introducing himself.
"I'm Y/N, great speech today," you complimented, shaking his hand that he extended out towards you.
"Thanks, I was kind of nervous speaking in front of everyone," he smiled, shaking his head.
"You didn't show it," you complimented, wanting to make a good impression.
"Okay, everyone, get to your tables! Dinner is about to be served!" a teacher announced over a speaker system.
"I'm at table 8, where are you sitting?" he asked.
"8 too!" you said excitedly, happy that you would get to talk to him more.
"Shall we?" he asked, holding out his arm for you to grab.
You grabbed his arm and walked to the table, where Becky and Kylee sat. You all talked about the Oilers and other random stuff over dinner, when music finally started to play. It was a slow song which was a weird way to start off the party, but whatever.
"Want to dance?" Taylor asked grinning at you.
"Yeah! let's go!" you replied quickly, practically dragging him out onto the dance floor. You couldn't believe it; you were dancing with THE Taylor Hall!
The two of you spent the rest of the night together, dancing and laughing. By then it was 11 o'clock, and he had to go since he had a training camp the next morning.
"Here, I think your phone's broken, let me fix it," he said, holding his hand out for you to place it in his hand.
"What's wrong with it?" you asked, feeling confused.
"My number isn't in it!" he smiled, putting his number into your phone. You laughed at his cheesy pickup line. You put your number into his phone so he could text you too.
"I'd really like to hang out again Y/N, I had a great time tonight," he said smiling at you.
"Me too! Text me sometime when you're free!" you smiled back.
He quickly gave you a kiss on the cheek and smiled, waving at you one last time as he left the hall, and you couldn't be more excited.
Best. Day. Ever!
