"Do you think she's gonna wake up, Nate?"

"I don't know, ma. We gotta stay hopeful, like we've been for the past year. The doctors did say that a nurse saw her move her finger."

"You're right, we just have to pray for the best."

Beep.

Beep.

Beep.

Beep.

What the fuck is that god awful sound?

A groan escapes my mouth.

"Turn off the sound man, it's interrupting my sleep." I croak out.

"She's awake!" I hear the first voice cry.

I recognise it and my eyes snap open as soon as I realise who it is.

"Mum!" I yell, opening my eyes wide as I take her in.

I push myself up on an elbow, noticing the drip in my arm immediately.

I ignore my eyes watering as they're not adjusted to the bright light yet.

"It's been so long." I whisper, extending my arms to pull her in for a hug.

"Sweetheart, we've missed you so much." She engulfs me into her arms, taking care to not touch the needle and strokes my hair softly, lovingly.

"I love you, mum." I sob, squeezing her shoulders.

"I love you too, honey. You don't know how hard this past year has been for us." She breathes.

She pulls away from me and smiles tearfully.

I look behind her, at my dad who still looks the same with every bit of his skin covered in tattoos.

"Dad!" I smile.

"You woke up, my little girl finally woke up." My dad walks over to me and pulls me into his arms, sighing softly.

"I missed y'all." I sigh and lean back into the pillow when we're all settled and my parents are sitting in chairs beside my bed.

"We missed you too, baby." My mum smiles.

I shut my eyes for a few seconds to calm my headache when a thought hits me.

I frantically look around the hospital room and it's white walls but I don't see who I'm looking for.

"Mum, where's Blake?" I ask, panic rising in my voice.

"Who's Blake?" My dad frowns in thought.

"Blake, my boyfriend, he brought me here, didn't you see him? He- HOLD ON, WHERE THE FUCK IS MY BABY BUMP?" I screech.

"Where are my children?" I ask.

"Did they not make it?" I ask.

"Where are they?!" I cry, demanding an answer.

"Honey, we don't know know what you're talkin about. We don't know anybody called Blake and you most certainly aren't pregnant, you never were." My dad says slowly, like he's talking to the five year old me again.

"What?" I gasp.

"What's going on, mum?" I ask, tears filling my eyes.

"Nate, I think she's had brain damage or something. Call a doctor." My mum says to my dad, totally ignoring me.

"Yeah, I'll do just that."

"Mum? What the hell is going on?" I pester.

"The doctor will tell you." My mum sighs.
