Chapter 17

Raylin

I woke up Sunday morning with a huge smile on my face. I could smell bacon all the way from the kitchen. I got out of bed and practically bounced down the stairs. When I walked into the kitchen I found that I was the last of our family to wake up.

"Good morning, sweetie." Mom greeted me as she placed a full plate of scrambled eggs, grits, bacon, and toast in front of me.

Ryan immediately reached over and grabbed a piece of bacon off my plate. I smacked his hand making him drop the bacon at the same time Mom smacked him upside the head.

"Hey! That wasn't fair. You both got a hit in." Ryan complained.

"You shouldn't have tried to steal your sister's food." Mom scolded him. I smirked then stuck my tongue out at Ryan.

"Ow!" I exclaimed after Mom smacked me as well.

"Oh, isn't it great to be home, Juliet?" Daddy smiled jokingly.

"I don't know? I think I would be happy to live there." Mom joked winking at Daddy.

"No! Guys, please don't leave me here with these two." Cassio begged pointing at me and Ryan.

"Ha! We weren't that bad." Ryan and I replied at the same time.

"Jinx!" We yelled in unison.

"No fair!"

"Stop it!"

"No, you stop it!"

"Mom!" We yelled. Mom threw her hands up in surrender then looked at Daddy.

"I swear, they're twenty years old and act like they're five again." Mom smirked.

"Whatever." Ryan and I huffed and crossed our arms at the same time.

"Way to prove her point guys." Cassio laughed.

Ryan and I gave each other a look. We nodded once we knew we were on the same page. Mom shook her head knowing what we were about to do. Daddy just rolled his eyes and chuckled. Ry grabbed Cassio and held him while I gave him a wet willie.

"Awe come on guys that's gross!" Ryan and I were rolling on the floor laughing at our little brother's scrunched up face. Before I knew what was happening, Daddy had me thrown over his shoulder and was carrying me outside.

"Daddy no! Ry, help me!" I screamed knowing I would end up wet.

"Sorry Sis, no can do." Ryan yelled.

"Ahhhhh!" I screamed as my body was flung into the pool. At the last second I managed to grasp onto Daddy's shirt and pull him in with me. I heard three more splashes as I resurfaced.

We spent a good hour and a half playing in the pool. Ryan started a water war and pretty soon we were all splashing each other. Mom and I were not winning at all. The guys had found some way to splash us harder than we could splash them. Afterwards we went inside to change. The rest of the day was spent lounging around the house. It was wonderful to spend time with my family. I loved them so much.

"So. Ryan and Raylin are y'all glad to be going home tonight?" Daddy asked.

"Sure am." Ry answered.

"I guess. I kinda miss living here with you guys." I admitted snuggling closer to Daddy.

"You're such a Daddy's girl." Ryan mocked me.

"Hey! You leave my little princess alone. She can be a Daddy's girl as long as she wants to." Daddy glared at Ry.

"Thank you Daddy." I said in my sweetest voice.

"You're welcome princess." Daddy smiled down at me.

After the movie we were watching Ry and I got up and went to pack what we had brought with us. I honestly didn't want to leave home again. I loved being so close to my family. We had always been really close.

I dropped my bags off by the door and went to tell my parents good bye. Mom and Daddy were in the kitchen. Daddy had his arms wrapped around Mom and she was laughing at something he had said. I smiled. It warmed my heart to know that after twenty five years of being married they were still deeply in love with each other.

"Oh Romeo, where did the time go? Twenty years ago they were newborns and now they're indecent adults." Mom sighed.

"I know. It seems like it was just yesterday that the nurse placed Desdemona in my arms for the first time. Now look at her. She's a string, beautiful young woman. She reminds me of you when you were her age. And Othello, I'm so proud to call him my son. Then there's Cassio. That kid is a mess, but I love him just the same." Daddy finished and looked up and directly at me. I looked behind me to see my brothers standing there too. All three of us had heard what he said.

"Awe, get in here you three." Mom held her arm out. Ryan, Cassio, and I all joined in on the hug. It was a precious Aymes family moment that I will forever hold dear to my heart. It made me never want to leave.

Ryan and I each hugged our parents once more before we headed back to our apartment. It was weird being there again. I had gotten used to being in the home I grew up in again. I was sitting on my bed staring at my bulletin board filled with notes and family photos when Ryan knocked on my door. I looked up to see him holding two bowls of ice cream.

"Here, it's cookies n' cream. It'll make you feel better." I took thebowl from him as he sat down on the bed beside me.

" I forgot what it was like being home again. I miss it." Ryan told me.

"Me too." I mumbled.

"Hey! I remember that." Ryan got up and unpinned a picture from my board. I looked to see that it was of our first trip to Disney World.

"Oh yeah, Cassio got sick after the tea cup ride because Daddy spun us too fast." I laughed at the memory.

"And Mom got to be Cinderella for a day." Ryan added.

"Remember when we got lost?" I asked.

"I think that was the scariest moment in my life." Ryan nodded.

"I was scared, but I knew I would be ok because I had my brother with me. I knew you wouldn't let anything happen to me." I looked at Ry.

"We might have only been ten at the time, but I would have beat anyone's ass if they had tried to lay a hand on you." Ryan said honestly.

"I know Ry." I took the picture and repined it to the wall.

"Is that Cassio?" Ryan asked from behind me pointing to a picture of Cassio in one of my dress up outfits. He even had the heels and clip on jewelry on.

"Oh my gosh! I completely forgot about that!" I laughed.

"Today was a good day." Ryan said in a serious voice.

"I miss days like today." i confesad.

"I think we all do, Sis." Ryan replied.

"Yeah, I'm tired. I think I'm gonna go to bed." I yawned.

"Yeah, me too. Good night Ray, I love you." Ryan kissed me on the cheek. Most people would find that weird, but Ryan and I had never been afraid to show each other affection.

"I love you too, Ry. "

I laid in bed that night and thanked God for giving me such a wonderful family.
