It's A Shakespeare Thing

Chapter 14

Raylin

I don't think I could have been anymore nervous than I was as Asher drove to his parents' house. I wanted them to like me. I wanted their approval. More than anything, I wanted them to see that I was worthy of their son's affections.

"Don't be nervous." I Asher took my left hand in his large right hand and kissed my knuckles.

"I can't help it." I smiled sheepishly at him.

"Trust me, they're going to live you." Asher smiled reassuringly at me.

"I hope so." I sighed as we pulled into the driveway.

My heart rate instantly increased as I stared at the beautiful place asher called home. It was a white two story farm house complete with a wrap around porch and two rocking chairs facing the west. It was the kind of house most southern girls dreamed of having.

"You ready?" Asher asked as he held his left hand out for me to take.

"As I'll ever be." I replied taking his hand allowing him to lead me up the steps and through the front door.

"Mom, Dad, we're here." Asher called as we walked through the foyer to the living room.

"Hey son, your Mom is finishing up in the kitchen, and Ashley is on her way with Braxton." Asher's father said.

"Dad, this is my girlfriend, Raylin Aymes. Ray, this is my father, Max Blake." Asher introduced us.

"Nice to meet you, sir." I held my hand out to shake his, but when Mr. Blake looked at me his reaction was not the one I was expecting. He looked like a deer caught in headlights.

"Dad?" Asher said just as confused by his fathers reaction as I was.

"Did you say her last name was Aymes?" Mr. Blake asked his son.

"Yeah why, do you know someone by that name?" Asher questioned.

"Dinner is ready, and Ashley just pulled in. Oh, I'm sorry, I'm Roxanne, Asher's mom, but you can call me Roxy." Asher's mom smiled and hugged me.

"Nice to meet you! I'm Raylin. " I greeted her.

"Let's all go to the dinning room. " Asher's mom herded us all into the gorgeous dinning room. She actually had to push Mr. Blake to make him stop staring at me.

"Something smells wonderful." Another feminine voice said. I turned to see a beautiful petite girl with sleek black hair carrying the cutesy little baby enter the dining room.

"Ash, anything Mom cooks smells wonderful. Now pass me my nephew. " Asher reached out to take the baby from his sister.

"Jeez, don't even introduce me to your girlfriend before you take my child!" Ashley joked.

"Sorry, Ashley, this is my girlfriend Raylin." Asher introduced me.

"Well, it's nice to finally put a face to the name I keep hearing so much about." Ashley smiled at me.

"It's nice to finally meet you all. Although, I must admit that I was nervous to do so." I confessed.

"Oh isn't she just darling, Max?" Roxy asked her husband who was still glancing at me occasionally.

"Huh, yeah. So, your last name is Aymes spelled A-Y-M-E-S. Am I correct?" Mr. Blake asked leaving me speechless.

"Yes Dad, for the third time tonight, her last name is Aymes." Asher answered for me. You could hear the annoyance in his voice.
