Celeste
A nice waitress by the name of Claire took my order, she was a tiny thing, said she was married to Mel and had lived here her whole life. It took no time and my food was brought out, a huge double cheeseburger with bacon, a ton of onion rings, and a coke, yup a werewolf diner, the portions showed it. I was happy, I had an appetite that could rival the biggest of wolves. I needed blood too, but I always got that from animals, never ever a human.
I was about halfway through my food when I felt him, the Alpha. I had been expecting this, but damn, in the middle of my eating the best burger on the planet? He was starting to gray, but not in a bad way, a dusting at his temples, he had jet black hair aside from that, dark gray eyes, broad shoulders, tapered waist, and thick legs. The power rolled off of him in waved, but it had no effect on me. His gray eyes met mine and he gave me a friendly smile before him and a group of wolves, I assume his beta, delta, and gamma, strolled over to my table. "Hello there, welcome to Redwood Hills, my name is David. I'm the mayor here and this the welcome committee, Jace, Connor, and Tucker. What's your name and how long you staying here?" I swallowed the mouthful of heaven before answering, "Celeste, it's a pleasure to meet you. I was passing through. I am not sure how long I'll be staying. I am looking for my brother and I am not quite sure how far north he is." With wolves, it's best to tell as much truth as you can.
"I love that name, it's one of my favorites. Now, what's your brother's name, maybe we have seen him?" I sighed and leaned back in my seat, "Luke, his name is Luke." David blinked for a moment, "Well, hun, that's kind of a common name, how about a last name?" I sighed, "I don't know. You see, he left home a long time ago." David sighed, "How about a picture?" I rubbed my face, "Look, Alpha, I mean no disrespect, but I know he isn't here. I'll just finish my meal and head out of town." His brows furrowed, "Alpha?" I nodded and let my wolf scent out and the males all growled. "How did you hide your scent, Rogue?" Jace growled at me and I rolled my eyes, "I'm not a rogue, I told you, I am looking for my brother. My pack happens to be in Greece. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll be leaving now." Stupid territorial wolves. I stood and threw a few bills on the table, before making my way out the door. I walked quickly to my room, gathered my things and checked out. I saw their eyes watching from the tree line as I drove north, right over the border into Washington.
I sighed as I grew tired, needing to sleep, I pulled into the next town and grabbed the first hotel room I could. The place wasn't great, but it was clean. I smelled wolves, but they smelled farther away, not in town, but rather outside of it. That made me feel better. I crashed for the night and then I heard howls. They were warning of rogues, these smelled awful, they were really sick, but still had some damage left to do. I watched out the window to see if they needed help. I saw a rogue chasing a pregnant woman, there was no one around to help her. I dove out the window and chased the rogue down. I grabbed him by his scruff and yanked him backward, catching him off guard. He turned and growled at me before charging me. I dodged his attack and kicked him in the ass, pissing him off. He growled again as he lept at me, this time, I let him tackle me to the ground. I rolled on top of him and punched him in the snout, hard. He shifted back, his eyes were red, he was rabid. He was foaming, I knew if he had bitten that woman, her and her baby would have died.
I hit him hard in the face again, he rolled and we were punching each other, until he bit me. This was going to fucking hurt. I was pissed, I jumped up and smashed his head in with my boot, killing him. My arm was bleeding like crazy, the infection wouldn't set, but it would make my arm slow to heal. I shook his skull off of my boot and turned to walk back to my hotel room when the pregnant woman called out to me, "Wait! You saved my life, I owe you everything." I turned to her with a smile, "You owe me nothing, just live your life and love your baby and your mate." I turned but she caught my arm, I winced, "Can I at least know your name? Oh goddess, your hurt." I tried to tell her it was fine, but she pulled me over to a group of wolves, they all growled at me.
"Stop that, Mason. Don't you growl at me, she saved my life. Now, as your mate, I say you should at least patch up her arm! The rogue bit her!" At this, they all shifted back, I kept my eyes up, naked men were my weakness, not that I had seen too many, but still, these guys were hot! "You were bitten? Shit, you're human. We don't have much time, we need to get her to Luke, he will know what to do, those damn things were rabid!" The male with his arm around the pregnant woman yelled. "Mason, is she going to be alright?" She asked him, he looked at me and I gave him a subtle nod, His eyes widened, "Yes, Linda, now get home and check on the kids, we will get her help." Linda threw her arms around me, "Thank you." Then, she was gone.
"My apologies, Miss. Linda is a bit affectionate." Mason said, rubbing his neck. I smiled, "It's fine, and really, I'm ok. I would like to talk to Luke, if he is this Luke." I pulled out my phone and showed them a picture of my brother. They all looked at me with wide eyes and nodded, "I'm Alpha Mason and I am in debt for you saving my mate and our pup. King Luke is always at the cabin these days, doesn't like company too much. His mate is ill, maybe dying." I gasped, "I need to get to him, like yesterday."
