Celeste
Mason lead to a large cabin about five miles from the town. "I have orders not to bother him, so you are on your own." He told me and I nodded, "Thank you for your help, I'll be fine." He gave me a salute before shifting and running back the way we came. I trudged up to the cabin and knocked on the door. Luke answered the door, looking like our mother, black hair, green eyes, tanned skin, and a glare that could kill a mortal. "Who are you and what do you want?" I sighed, "I bring a message from our parents." He grabbed me by the collar and pulled me inside, slamming the door and then me up against it. "I know damned well you ain't Drake or Helen, so don't even dare say we have the same parents!"
I pushed him off of me, "You haven't talked to them in how long? How do you know that they didn't have more children?" He growled at me, "After what happened with us, they swore to never do it again." I snorted, "That was until you three started acting like idiots, Mother and Father needed someone to help end the stupid war that you three started!" He narrowed his eyes, "And why would I listen to you, pup?" I rolled my eyes, "Well, Drake already killed me once, it didn't work for him, I guess you want to try as well? Or would you like me to help your mate first, then you can kill me, brother?" His face fell, "She cannot be helped, she is almost dead." I sighed, "Show me to her. I can help." He studied me for a moment then nodded.
I followed him up the stairs to a large open loft bedroom. There in the massive bed was a tiny woman with pale blonde hair and fair skin. Her eyes blinked open and they were crystal blue, she was by far the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. "Penelope, this is, uh, my sister. A younger sister that I didn't even know existed until today. She has come to help you." His voice was gentle and I saw his eyes shine with love for Penelope. "My name is Celeste, tell me what ales you." I stepped to the side of the bed and took her hand in mine. It was cold, death was coming for her. "She cannot speak anymore, Celeste. I know not what illness plagues her." Luke spoke from beside me.
I nodded and placed a hand on her forehead and closed my eyes. My magic moved through her body and I found a mass in her belly. I looked at Luke, "When was the last child she birthed?" He sighed, "Fifty years ago, she stopped having heat cycles and became ill soon after." I nodded, "It's because she was pregnant and the baby died inside of her and has been slowly killing her. I need to remove it." His jaw dropped. I pulled back the covers and placed both hands to her stomach. I began to chant under my breath, it was a healing spell that I had learned many years ago as a child. Warm light grew in her stomach and I felt the baby dissolve. She gasped and her eyes flew to Luke's. I removed my hands and stepped back.
Penelope sat up, color had returned to her skin, her eyes sparkled, her skin was warm. "Oh Luke!" She sobbed and stepped back again to allow them to have this moment. He gathered her in his arms, tears streaming down his face. I quietly made my way down to the living room and sat on the couch. A few moments later, Luke came down the stairs, smiling. "She's resting, but she feels better." I nodded, "It may take a few days for her to return to normal, but I assure you, she will." He bounded over to the couch and scooped me up in his arms, sobbing and thanking me. "You are my Brother, Luke, I couldn't watch you suffer and do nothing."
We sat and talked about Mother and Father, some of my training, and Drake and Helen. "Have you talked to her?" Luke asked, I shook my head, "Father sent me to Drake first, that didn't go well at all. You were the closest, so I thought I would try you before going to Helen. This war has to stop, Luke. Things are getting out of hand in a big way, more and more humans are dying. Our parents are worried, that's why I am here. To end this, one way or another." Luke nodded. "I agree, but I have no idea how. I want nothing more than to be a family again, but how." I smiled, "We will find a way."
He eyed me for a second, "When is the last time you slept or ate?" I shrugged and filled him in on the last few days. He rubbed a hand over his face, "You can stay here." I shook my head, "Hell no, Look, your mate will be feeling as good as new by the time she wakes up and you two are going to be making all kinds of noises that my virgin ears don't need to hear." He chuckled, "Oh, and what of your mate, Little sister?" I shook my head, "I don't have one, I don't think I am meant to have one. I have a singular purpose, end the war, save the world." He snorted, "Leave it to Dad to leave that part out, he was the same way with Helen, you will have a mate, it's Mom's way." I shrugged, "Well, I am going back to my hotel room, See you tomorrow?" He nodded and I jogged out the door.
The run back to town was great, even though I spent the entire night at Luke's with no sleep and I was starving, but before I could see what food could be found, I needed a shower. I had blood all over me, mine and the rogue's. I bet I smelled like roadkill, gross. When I reached my hotel room, Mason was waiting there with a grin on his face. "Well, there's the hero. I just got a message from the King to move you from the hotel, to the pack house, no arguing." I grumbled, "Fine, but I have to take a shower, I smell like roadkill!" He chuckled and nodded, "Make it quick, Hero." I flipped him off, "Celeste, not hero." I heard his laughter all the way into the bathroom.
