Castiel turned around slowly. And there he was. The man that haunted his dreams at night, the man who had broken his heart all those years ago, and more importantly:
The man he still loved. Dean freakin Winchester.
He still looked as attractive as ever. Same dirty blonde hair (that for a while that they've been dating he though was brown) and those clear, green eyes he never got tired of getting lost into.
It's not like he's never dreamed of this moment, meeting his old lover again. He never thought he would actually see Dean again. This was unexpected. "Cas is that really you?" Dean asked, his voice cracking slightly.
Castiel put on a fake smile. "D-Dean long time no see." Seriously, he thought, 'long time no see' that's all you got?
Castiel tried not to make eye contact while being subtle. All he could see was Claire's eyes through Dean's. It took everything he had not to just jump into Dean's arms and demand that he take him back. But no, Castiel was too proud and humble for that. Dean was a figment of the past, nothing else and nothing more ever will be.
"Long time no see Cas. You look nice." Dean said, smiling softly. Castiel looked down as the beginning of a blush began to form on his face. "Thanks, I-I guess. You um do too." He must sound so pathetic right now.
Castiel gave Samandriel the money and took his food. He avoided Dean's eyes. "Now if you'll excuse me, I'll be going. It was nice seeing you again Dean." "Wait Cas!" Dean yelled.
He then heard footsteps behind him. "Cas...don't leave again." Dean sounded so genuinely sad that Castiel's heart broke a little. "Dean I don't have time for this. We were done a long time ago."
"But-"
"Please go away."
Castiel turned back to his car to leave when Dean grabbed his arm. Surprisingly, he didn't move from under his grasp and just stared into his eyes before realizing what he was doing and shaking his head vigorously. He yanked his arm away from Dean. "Can I at least take your number? Or maybe I could stop by your place-"
Definitely not, especially because of Claire. "Oh look at the time I need to go." Castiel slipped into his car and drove away, leaving a disappointed and confused Dean Winchester.

"Wait you ran into Dean? As in ex-almost-fiancé Dean? And you didn't tell him old Gabe said hi?"
Castiel ran his hand down his face in exasperation. His brother could be such an idiot sometimes. "This is not funny Gabriel. I haven't seen him in years. You know, in person. Now he's in town!" He whisper yelled so Claire wouldn't hear, even though she was in the living room next door.
Gabriel, who was leaning against the kitchen counter raised an eyebrow. He took an apple from the fruit basket in the center of the counter and took a huge bite into it. "Bro, you still haven't told him about Claire?" Gabe asked, with little chunks of chewed up apple flying everywhere."
"Yeah I told- of course I didn't tell him! He's not a part of my life anymore and I would like to keep it that way." Castiel scowled. "And chew with your mouth closed."
Gabriel put a hand on his brothers shoulder. "He may not be a part of your life, but what about Claire's life? He may have been a douche but the past is the past. Claire should know about her other father."
Castiel huffed and folded his arms. He didn't need Dean. He forgave Dean a long time ago, but it doesn't mean it hurt any less when he saw him today. What if he ran into him again? "No, final decision; I will not tell him about Claire." He announced confidently.
Gabriel sighed. Castiel was a naturally stubborn person, so convincing him to do otherwise would take a while. "One day he'd going to find out about her himself and will be forced into her life anyways, so why not save ourselves from the awkward moment it happens?"
Castiel opened his mouth to protest again but Gabriel held up his finger to keep talking. "Aye it's you're decision little bro.
Now it was Castiel's turn to sigh. His brother had a point. Now that Dean is in town, there's a higher risk of him running into him every now and then. He's been doing fine with raising Claire by himself. He doesn't need Dean.
At least it sounds convincing in his head.

"Goodnight honey." Castiel told his daughter after he tucked her in. He turned to leave when Claire spoke out. "Papa tell me a story."
Castiel smiled and walked back over to his daughters bed and sat by her leg. Randy was tucked under Claire's arm, and her eyes sparkled with innocence. If only he was like that. "How about Peter Pan?" Peter Pan was
one of Claire's favorite stories. He's told it to her so much that he practically memorized it."You always tell Peter Pan." Claire stated.
"Uh Cinderella?"
Claire shook her head and tapped her chin with her finger as if she was in deep thought. "Tell me a story about daddy."
"You want me to tell you a story about myself?" Castiel sheepishly joked, hoping she would forget about the topic of her other unknown
father.Claire frowned. "No silly! My other daddy."
Castiel's heart broke a little. How did she even know she had another father? "Y-your other daddy? What do you mean?"
"I heard you and Uncle Gabe talking. I only heard 'other father' and didn't listen to the rest because grown up talk is boring." Claire attempted at rolling her eyes dramatically. He really should stop letting Gabriel babysit her. Castiel placed a hand on her shoulder and caressed her cheek with his other. "Claire..."
"Does my other daddy not like me? Is that why he's not here wif us?" She sounded so adorable but sad and Castiel would've cried if he didn't try hard enough to control himself. "Of course not Claire. Your other daddy is just...gone."
"He's dead?"
Castiel only gave her a small smile at that. He leaned over and kissed her cheek before getting up. "Goodnight angel." Claire let out a huge yawn. "But I...not ti...red...." she mumbled before her eyelids closed.
Castiel grinned and walked towards the door. He looked back at his daughter, who was fast asleep and off deep into dreamland. Castiel then walked back to his room to pray. His family had always been extremely religious. He knelt down in front of his bed and dipped his head and closed his eyes.
"Oh holy father, I pray to you that you keep my daughter safe. I need an answer. Should I tell Claire about her father and should I tell Dean about his daughter? You are the only one who can determine the right choice. Please, give me a sign. Thank you for listening, Amen." Castiel prayed softly.
