The sun peeked in Castiel's bedroom window, lighting his hair like a fiery halo. He lifted his head from the pillow, his hair sticking up. The suns vibrant rays sent a glossy, gold sheen all around the room, blending with the falling leaves of Autumn.
"..up! Daddy Wake up!"
Castiel kept his eyes shut, knowing who the culprit was. He the peeked one eye open. A girl with dirty blonde hair and green eyes was staring back at him. She was almost an exact image of...him. He couldn't believe that he helped create this beautiful child. Sometimes it was hard to look at his daughter and not think about her father. Every day he was reminded of what he had lost, but was also reminded of what Dean had given him.
Castiel yawned and opened both eyes. He sat up, his back leaning against the hard wooden headboard. "Claire, aren't you sleepy?" He asked his daughter as he pulled her onto his lap. She went to sleep late the night before and expected her to doze off throughout the day, which he wouldn't mind since it's a Saturday anyways. "I hungry daddy!"
Castiel smiled as Claire took off from his lap and jumped up and down on the bed. "Five wittle monkeys jumping on the bed, one fell off and bwoke his head!" She sang happily. The man didn't know how a four year old could be so energetic so early in the morning. "Go brush your teeth while I make breakfast, okay?"
Claire nodded and ran off. He smiled again. Claire always made him smile no matter what. She was his light, his sunshine, his little angel.
Castiel scanned the refrigerator. Less than half a gallon of milk, no butter, no bread. He really needed to do some grocery shopping later. When he dropped Claire off he would go get some breakfast.
After cleaning up scattered Cheerios on the floor for five minutes, he bathed Claire and put her in a simple yellow short sleeved sun dress. Castiel then dressed himself and stared long and hard through his bedroom mirror on the dresser.
He opened the top drawer and dug under the heaps of underwear and socks until he felt the familiar shape of a hard surface. It was a small picture frame, one of him and Dean. Deans arm was wrapped around his waist with a dopey grin, in which he was staring at Dean with so much love. The corner of his lips twitched upwards as he remembered the memory.
"You know I love you, right? So much." Dean said softly as he and Castiel sat on the couch. A blanket was laid on both of them and Castiel was curled into Deans side, with Deans arm around Castiel protectively. There was some Lifetime movie on, but Cas barely paid attention to it.
He smiled into Deans shoulder and looked up at him with his chin resting on Deans shoulder. There was a love stricken look in his eyes. It wasn't the first time Dean ever said that to him, but every time he said it he fell in love all over again. "I love you too." Dean kissed his temple.
Unbeknownst to the two, Sam had taken a photo of the moment and took the picture on the most cliche moment in the history of cliches. But Sam had printed out the
picture and gave it to him. Usually he would've been mad that Sam was spying on their moment, but he came to cherish the photo anyways. It was one of the happy memories during his times with Dean.
It's been almost five years and he still can't get over the man.
Claire's voice shook him out of his thoughts. "Papa? Can I bwing Randy to Uncle Gabe's house?" She held up a light brown teddy bear in a short, old, yellow t-shirt. Castiel sighed. She's had that bear ever since last year, and for some reason came up with the name Randy for it. She loved it more than any of her other toys. He can't even count how many crying episodes there were when Randy was 'temporarily misplaced'.
"As long as you don't loose it-him." He nodded.
Castiel grabbed his stuff and locked the front door, before picking up Claire and to the car. He drove down to Gabriel's home, which was only fifteen minute drive.
When they got to his brother's house, Claire jumped straight out of her car seat after Castiel unstrapped her and pressed the doorbell at least fifty times. He chuckled at her behavior and followed her.
Gabriel swiftly opened the door. "Now who's ringing my doorbell so many times at nine in the morning?!" He said in mock irritation. Claire giggled and Castiel rolled his eyes playfully. "Come give uncle Gabe a hug." Claire ran over to her uncle.
"Hiya Cas!" Gabriel cheerfully greeted. "Hello Gabriel. I have to go do some errands but I'll be back in a couple hours or so. Here is her backpack with her necessities and keep an eye on her, you know how she can slip out of your sight in a finger snap. And-"
"Keep the porn magazines far away from her, I know I totally did," why did Castiel get the feeling it was sarcasm? "Cas this isn't the first time I've babysitted her I know the dealio."
Castiel kissed his daughters temple and kneeled down to her level. "Stay out of trouble sweetheart, okay?" Claire nodded and grinned before running around the corner into the living room. Gabriel practically pushed his brother out the door. "Make sure to call if there's an emergency!" He called out before the door slammed shut in his face.
"Goodbye Castiel!"
Castiel huffed and walked over to his car. He trusted Gabriel with his life, but he would always be protective of his little Claire.
He opened up the notes section of his phone and read his agenda for the day. Yeah, he was an organized nut but it helped since he always seemed to forget things. He had to grocery shop obviously, pick up something from work, blah blah blah.
Suddenly his stomach grumbled. Castiel leaned back against the seat. He'd stop by the Angel Cafe first and then go off to do his errands.
The last time he'd been to the cafe was with Claire a couple months ago. It was also one of the places Dean him would go to sometimes to spend quality time with each other. The cafe was a peaceful place. It wasn't always crowded but it was a very popular cafe.
As soon as he entered the cafe, happy memories flooded his mind.
"Come on get in I'm getting soaked out here!" Dean shouted as he and Castiel entered the small, but cozy looking cafe. It was raining so hard that the rain had become to feel more like pelting rocks. Castiel laughed and ran a hand through his wet black hair. Dean thought he looked adorable with his messy sex-hair and the droplets of water from the rain making him shine.
"We should stay in here for a little while until the rain dies down."
Dean looked around. There weren't many people, maybe say about seven or eight customers. It was kind of late.
"Yeah it's cozy in here. Maybe we should order something while we're here."
Castiel rolled his eyes. But it had no real heat to it. "You and your bottomless pit you call a stomach."
Dean holds his hand up to his head in mock offense. "I am a growing man."
Castiel kissed his cheek and smiled. "You're my growing man."
Castiel shook his head at the memory and walked over to the barista behind the front counter. "Hello Samandriel." Castiel greeted him. "Hi Castiel. How are you?"
The black-haired man sighed. "Tired as always." Samandriel let out a small smile at that. Castiel gave him his order and waited patiently for his food to be delivered.
"To go or to stay?"
Castiel opened his mouth to reply but froze when he heard a rough, familiar voice.
"Cas?"
Said man's eyes widened. A very, very familiar voice. It couldn't be.
"Sir?"
"Sorry Samandriel. Make that to go."
