"Can you be any more lame Cassie?" Gabriel asked unhelpfully as always. Castiel wondered why he even told his brother about his personal life sometimes.

"I panicked! Again! And it was a good opportunity for Dean to be close with his daughter." Castiel defended himself, tracing the marble lines of Gabriel's countertop.

"You realize it doesn't count if he doesn't realize she's his?" Gabriel questioned matter-of-factly. Okay, point Gabriel.

"I'm trying-"

"No you're not Cassie. Maybe I'll just tell Dean to spare you all this drama." Gabriel suggested nonchalantly.

Castiel rolled his eyes at his brother. "You wouldn't dare. And I thought you liked drama?"

"This is just sad though."

Just as Castiel was about to hit Gabe, Claire skipped in happily. "Is mister Dean coming for another play date?"

Gabriel and Castiel exchanged wary looks. "Uh...."

"Not today, but Dean will be visiting you and Cas very soon. Right Cassie?" Gabriel told Claire, and looked up at Cas innocently. It was anything but innocent.

Castiel glared at Gabe. He considered kicking his face, but one, he was too good for that, and two, his daughter was looking up at him ardently and very earnestly in a way that he couldn't set a bad example for her.

"Of course." He smiled sweetly at Claire who squealed happily. He wondered what Dean to make her like him so much.

—————

Dean wiped a hand down his face as he entered Sam's loft. He wished they were staying in the bunker so he could just sneak through one of the secret passageways and enter his room without notifying Sam of his presence.

He shoved the spare key Sam gave him into the lock, and twisted it so hard that he was surprised it the doorknob didn't break.

It had been a long day and Dean wasn't exactly in the mood for confrontation from his brother.

Dean took a detour for the kitchen and shed his jacket off, throwing it onto a nearby chair. He opened the fridge and took out a bear from the six-pack and took a long swig out of it. He let out a loud refreshed noise after he was hydrated enough. Nothing like the slightly bitter taste of cheap, cold bear.

"Dean? You're back?" Sam yelled from another room. "I'm here!" Dean shouted back, heading for the small living room. He plopped backwards on the couch, beer loosely held in his hand.

His brother's footsteps were heard in the hallway, and it wasn't long before Dean was graced with his presence. Sam was holding his laptop in one hand, like always. "Uh hey."

"Sup." Dean said popping the p and took another swig of his beer. Sam was too used to Dean doing that to comment on it.

"So...did you patch things up with Cas?"

"You don't know that I went to see Cas."

"Obviously you did."

Dean sighed. No harm in telling his brother. "Okay maybe I went to visit him."

Sam raised an eyebrow. "How'd it go?"

"I still think he doesn't fully trust me. Well I guess he did, considering he left his daughter in the care of me for a while."

"Wait Cas has a daughter? Castiel?" Sam asked, genuinely surprised.

"Yup. She's an energetic one. She kinda reminds me of you when you were little." Dean said. He would've sounded genuinely nonchalant to anyone else, but Sam could hear the wistfulness in his tone. The younger brother smiled a little.

"Are...are you okay with that?" Sam questioned carefully. He was happy that Cas had a family and was doing well, but he knew how much Dean cared for him. Castiel was different. He was probably Dean's longest lasting relationship, and it took the most toll on him when they ended things. There was always this soft look in Dean's eyes when he was around Cas or when his name was mentioned. Sam used to call it sappy, but deep down he thought it was actually sweet. He'd never say that out loud though.

It's the curse. The hunting curse that John Winchester bestowed upon them that seems to prevent the brothers from attempting to have a normal life.

"M'fine. Cas is happy, so I'm happy." Dean assured. Not that Sam was convinced, but he knew it wasn't the time to push Dean to spill his feelings yet.

"So I was researching the case while you were gone and I think I found a lead." Sam said, making his way over to Dean while clicking something on his laptop. He took a seat next to him.

Dean hoped his relief over the topic change didn't show on his face.

"Okay so Anne Harris, that woman at the bar who was killed, her body had these weird marks and tons of wounds, right? Another body was found outside of another bar earlier today as well."

"Was it just like the last one?"

"Yeah, there was a bloody mess all over the crime scene." Sam replied, scrolling down the page to show Dean the photo.

Dean gagged dramatically, causing Sam to roll his eyes.

"You think there's a pattern?" Sam asked his brother. Dean shrugged. "Well, both of the bodies are in critically brutal state. And they're both women right?"

"I think so. Officials are having a hard time identifying this person too."

Dean took another sip of beer and burped shortly after. Sam crinkled his nose in disgust.

"You're gross."

Dean grinned, amused at his brothers discomfort.

Thank you guys so much for the positive comments and votes ! This book now has over 100 votes and almost 2k reads so yeeeet!

Yo, anyone who's watched season 13 and wanna hit ya girl up with some jackxclark fanfiction, I'm open to that😉

Should I actually write a jackxclark fanfiction? Idk I think it would suck, and I have too many fan fictions to update and finish.

Anyways, sorry for the lack of updates. School is actually trying to kill me, no joke. I just don't fucking understand math. And I've also been in study overload lately, which probably won't do shit, but whatever.

I had to convince myself to update because I thought this was total cringe, but that's probably because I think everything I write is cringe but I like writing so I do it anyways.

Anywho, you friends know this isn't over yet.

Til next time
