Alex's POV

I swallowed my growing insecurities as I pull the shirt, long sleeved and dark blue, over my head and across my body. My hair was pulled into a neat ponytail and the bags under my eyes were nearly invisible.

Aaron appeared at the door, leaning nonchalantly against the wood.

I turned to to him.

"Ready?" He asked, grinning.

"Ready... do I look okay?" I mumbled, looking down.

I heard footsteps and then Aaron's arms wrapped around my waist from behind. He kissed my head and whispered:

"You look beautiful, baby."

I blushed.

Hard.

Oh geez Alex, you got it bad.

I ignored the slightly reluctant voice in my head and turned to Aaron, kissing him lightly on the lips.

"Come on then." He smiled and pulled me forwards gently.

We arrived at the place around 10 minutes later, and I sat down, slowly. I was looking around, awe-struck.

We were in a clearing in the campus forest, where the soft grass swayed back and forth in the summer nights breeze. The trees rustled gently and the call of the night animals echoed around us. There were golden fairy lights surrounding us, coating us in a warm golden glow.

From above, the sky, bright with constellations, was shining down on us through a frame of jagged tree tops.

But most spectacular, of course, was the food that Aaron had set up. Sandwiches, pasta, cupcakes, salad, soup in thermal flasks. My mouth was open, face lit up by the fairy lights that were strung from tree to tree.

Aaron sheepishly smiled at me and I grinned slowly back at him.

"A-aaron...this is, like, wow! How long did this take?"

He giggled. A manly giggle, duh.

"Longer than I an willing to admit." He snickered and blushed when I reached over and hugged him hard.

"It's amazing." I assured.

"You know what else is amazing?" Aaron grinned and I blushed again. I waited for him to answer with the cheesiest pickup line ever. But he didn't.

He reached past me and grabbed a sandwich.

"Chicken and cheese sandwiches."

I slapped him lightly over the head and reached for some food of my own.

Once I was settled with a ham sandwich and a mug of soup, I turned back to Aaron. He was laying on his back, head propped up by his arms. His dark eyes were shining as he admired the constellations above.

I laid myself down next to him and snuggled into his side.

He wrapped an arm around my side and I smiled.

"The food tastes amazing--" I started. Aaron turned to me and put a finger on my lips.

"Listen." He murmured.

I shut my mouth and listened.

Nearby, there was a group of animals. They were small and unidentifiable, until a tiny rabbit tumbled into the clearing, ears twitching and eyes darting.

I grinned, watching as two more little rabbits hopped over to their friend. It was magical.

Aaron stirred behind me, moving away. As all my weight had been on his shoulder, I tumbled back. I let out a girly shriek an the rabbits ran into the woods.

My and Aaron made eye contact and started laughing. I bought my hand up to my mouth to cover my smile, which I had always hated, and giggled.

A manly giggle.

Aaron's smile dropped and he pulled my hand away from my face. My uncovered smile faded as he stared into my eyes.

"You have a gorgeous smile, Alex." Aaron whispered lowly, leaning in slightly.

My breath hitched in my throat as I took in his close proximity. His knee brushed against mine and he bought a hand up to brush through my hair.

He gently tugged my hair tie out of my dark hair, letting it fall loose against my back. His fingers ran through my soft locks and I closed my eyes, a blush rising into my cheeks. He wrapped his other arm around my waist and pulled me close to his chest.

I felt his warm skin against my palm as I bought my hand to his chest, gently, and he connected his lips with mine.

My eyes opened and I smiled against Aaron's warm, soft lips. He smiled back and pulled me onto his lap.

He pushed his lips hard against mine and moved both of his hands down to my hips. I wrapped one arm around his neck and curled my other hand into his hair.

He lay me back against the picnic blanket and...

(I'll leave it there :) )

One awesome date later ;P

Aaron bent over to pick up the leftover food and stuffed it into his bag. I pulled myself to my feet and meandered over to him. He turned around and grinned at me.

I smiled widely back and kissed him on the cheek, grabbing his hand. He hoisted his bag onto his shoulder and we began to walk back through the woods.

"Tell me about yourself."

I turned to Aaron and laughed uneasily.

"W-what?" I asked.

"I want to know more about you." Aaron shrugged, keeping his eyes forward.

I felt my cheeks heat up dangerously Andi stumbled for my words. I don't tell people these things. It's not as if I don't trust Aaron, it's more that even forming the words in my mouth makes me panic. If I'm pressured into it, it softens the blow a little.

But when there is a choice for me, I do not tell.

And now is no exception.

I could, so easily, just tell him about everything. But then again, I could just make something up.

I opt for the latter, and my brain begins to churn.
