"Cass, you can trust me."

She look hesitant but managed to keep her gaze locked onto me. "Can I?"

I didn't answer, but leaned closer.

*********
"Yes," The devil on my shoulder cackled. "This is perfect! Kiss her and she shall be lulled into a false sense of security!"

Kiss her?

I jerked away suddenly, hurriedly.

Cassie's eyes were filled with confusion for a moment, but it quickly disappeared.

I cleared my throat awkwardly. "So..Um...I was thinking..." I shook the awkwardness off and said quickly:

"I thought of a compromise."

Cassie's eyes bored into me. "What do you mean?" She demanded.

I cleared my throat again. "I don't like seeing you like this.."

We both blushed at the cliché line.

I tried again. "I know how you can see your mother."

She leapt off the bed. "What do you mean? You better not be messing with me, Nate!" She glared at me suspiciously.

I rose off the bed. "I need to talk to Natalie about it, but I think we may be able to get your mother and you together again."

Cassie's expression was of shock, and I think I could also see the old fire in her eyes flaring up again.

I exited the room, closed the door, and sighed with relief.

************
Cassie's POV

What did Nate mean? What did this mean?

Did he mean..... My eyes welled up at the thought of seeing my mother again.

In reality it had only been just over 1 week since I had been kidnapped, but I must've been travelling for at least 2 days.

Suspicion wormed its way into my sudden thought of happiness.

How was Nate going to pull it off?

Outside, Nate was thinking the same thing.

************
Nate's POV:

A sudden thought barged its way into my small moment of relief.

How was I going to pull it off?

Kidnapping a lost girl's mother gently is not going to be the easiest thing ever.

I ran a hand over my face and sighed. I'd got Cassie's hopes up, it would be cruel to destroy them now.

I had just sat down on the couch when my phone rang.

I picked it up. "Hello?"

"So, how are you going to pull it off?"

I sighed. "Natalie, can you please stop spying on me?"

Natalie snorted. "I'm not, but I know you and its usually around this time of day you make a promise, or try to do something crazy."

I didn't answer.

Natalie's voice was full of disbelief.

"Both?"

**************
Melissa's POV:

"Okay, Ellie, where is your dad at the moment?"

The torn young girl opened her mouth to answer but just then my cellphone rang.

"I see fire, inside the mountain, I see fiiirrreeeeeee-"

I picked it up.

"Hello?"

"Melissa...It's Cathy..."

"Oh! Hey! Cathy Brooke?"

The reply was whispered. "Could you come over please?"

Work-mode. "Sure, Mrs Brooke. Is right away okay?"

I turned to my patient. "Sorry Ellie, I'll come back another time, 'kay?"

The girl, Ellie, nodded looking lost.
