I turned to my patient. "Sorry Ellie, I'll come back another time, 'kay?"
The girl, Ellie, nodded looking lost.

As I drove to Cathy's flat, I thought.
A bit about me? Well I am something in between a psychiatrist and a social worker. I go to people's house and give them professional help and advice. I don't get paid that much but you won't catch me complaining because I love what I do.
My phone bleeped. I pulled over quickly and checked the text.
Hanna-bannana:
Hey Mel, wanna come over for a coffee or something? :)
I texted back:
Sorry Hanna, just gotta shoot over to Mrs Brooke's house. Maybe anther time xx
The reply was shot back almost instantly.
Cathy Brooke??? OMG, exciting! Poor lady... :0
I smiled fondly and put my phone down.

Natalie's POV:
I frowned as I put my green cell down. What was Nate up to?
I narrowed my blue eyes. He better not be getting all soft. If he does, its that girl Cassie's fault.
She seems nice enough, but with all her depressed-ness and helpless-ness, Nate is getting pressured into doing things for her.
I was happy to help Nate, but what kind of a kidnapper buys his captive clothes for gods sake?
My face grew slightly hot when I remembered how his lips had brushed my ear before Cassie and I had left, but I quickly stifled it. I did not blush.
If Nate needed help, I would give it.
*********
Cassie's POV:
Nate called me from the other room.
"Cassie! Could you come here for a moment?"
"Yes, mother." I mumbled as I walked through the door into the main room.
Around the table there was Natalie, Jade (who smiled thin lipped at me), Doris and Nate. There was also a pile of paper in the centre. Doris motioned for me to sit down.
Nate smiled at us. "Okay guys, I've gathered you all here today-"
"Nate, just drop the boss act, okay?" Natalie interrupted grumpily.
Nate frowned slightly before continuing. He has changed a lot since i first met him.My mind flashed back....
Suddenly I look up. The shadow man is crouched above me.
The strange man laughs quietly, breaking the awkward silence that stretched into a whole minute.
"Well well well." He says softly. "Look what the thugs brought in." Green eyes stare at me piercingly.
"Is everything okay with you so far, Cassie?" Nate asked me anxiously.
My mind snapped back to the present day. I smiled guiltily. "Ummm...."
Natalie glared at me.
Jade tutted.
Nate's emerald green eyes bored into mine. His knuckles were white, his hands gripping the table. His whole body was tensed, and in that moment, he truly looked like a killer.
I shivered.
He smiled, breaking the awkwardness.
"I'll explain it again."
The smile seemed fake.

Cathy's POV:
I heard the Audi pull up in my gravel driveway, and I stepped out onto the front deck.
I smiled faintly at Melissa as she trudged across the lawn. She smiled anxiously back.
"Everything alright?" She asked nervously.
Melissa had been appointed to me after Cassie ran away. Everyone seemed to think that I was the cause of Cassie's disappearance. Furious tears threatened to well up.
That or I was in danger of having some kind of meltdown. I reckoned it was about a 50% chance.
Melissa stepped up and put a hand on my shoulder. "Let's talk in the lounge."
**********
Cassie's POV:
There was cups of coffee and biscuits in the middle of the table. I was sitting next to Jade, who flinched slightly.
"This is The Plan, Cassie. Listen carefully." Nate said.
I nodded.
"The aim is to kidnap Cassie's mum Cathy as gently as possible.
Jade & Doris- You two are the distraction. I happen to know that a police man sits in his car on the corner of Cassie's street every night. Doris, you walk along near the car and ask help to cross the street from Jade, who is dressed as a business woman.
Jade, you ignore Doris and shove her aside. Doris falls to the ground. The policeman hopefully reacts to this and gets out of his car. Jade, you need to get into a big time-consuming argument with the policeman."
Nate looked at Doris and Jade. They nodded.
"Cassie- You are the bait. While the policeman is distracted you run up to your mothers house and call for her. When she comes out, do not go in."
Nate stared at me. "It is very important that you do not go inside. Your mother will not be thinking sensibly over the joy of seeing you again, so it should be easy to tempt her outside."
"Natalie & I-are the kidnappers. When Cathy comes out of her flat, Cassie you dart away and Natalie & I will grab her.
Jade you need to end your argument with the policeman when you hear the signal, and stomp down the street towards Cathy's house. The signal is a car alarm.
Doris, you need to cross the street then follow Jade soon after. Reassure the policeman that you are okay if you need to.
Everyone meets in Cathy's driveway and we go. Is everything clear?"
Nate took a sip of coffee and looked around at us.
