Chapter 2-

"Travis," I whimpered, wringing my hands in my dress, immensely nervous. "Are you sure darling?"

"Yes, Eric said he's positive, he said she smells so familiar and she resembles." my husband said, leading us towards Sir Chadwick's study.

When we approached the large oak doors, I sucked in a breath before Travis held the door knobs and opened the doors. Two blonde-ish red heads stood there, their heads held high next to Sir Chadwick, along with a dark haired girl. On the other side of Sir Chadwick, was a tall, slim blonde woman, happily holding a new infant in her arms.

It was easy to figure out who Genevieve was because she stood happily with Eric behind her, with her sister standing proudly next to her, but the dark haired girl was focused on the ground, her dark waves and curls covering her face. She must be the fourth daughter, the one who is Bethany.

"Helleeoo," Genevieve's sister said, grinning.

"Hello darling." I said smiling at her, my nervousness fading, as Travis' hand rested on the small of my back.

"Sir Landon!" Sir Chadwick bellowed happily, taking long strides and strongly shaking Travis' hand. "So nice to see you again you young chap! You haven't aged a bit you lug!" he laughed along with Travis. "This is my wife Gina, and our newest member, Gloria." he said proudly. "This is obviously Genevieve and Eric, this is my second youngest Gracie," he pointed at the girl who greeted me. "And this, this is Bethany, our dark mystery."

He grinned wider and her bright green eyes met mine and I immediately knew it was her. My mind flashed back to when she was born, the first time I looked in those eyes. "Bethany," I breathed, taking a step closer. "Darling, please come closer if you will." I motioned her over with a smile. Cautiously, she came and stood face-to-face with me. "You know you're mine don't you." I said, fighting back tears.

"Yes." she burst into tears and I immediately threw my arms around her.

"Beth," Lady Chadwick said. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you from the start, I didn't want your point of view to change-"

"You," she said, tears staining her face. "Raised me and in my heart you'll always be my mother, but she," she looked at me. "gave birth to me, so she is also my mother. I'll love you all equally. You'll all still be my siblings and Eric," she sighed.

"Yes, baby sister?" he grinned.

"You are already the best big brother, but you Genevieve and Gracie, you're the best sisters a girl could ask for." she stepped out of my arms. "Mother, Mother, Father, Father," she curtsied. " 'Till the feast." her heart beat fast as she exited the room.

The children all left the room soon after and we discussed how Bethany became a Chadwick. One night it was terribly stormy and there was a pounding on the door. There was a frail dark haired woman who was laying on the steps, shielding a basket. She had just enough strength to push the basket toward's Sir Chadwick's feet before she passed. They figured it was her baby and they decided to take in this poor streets woman's baby and call it their own. Beth grew up happy and healthy but she refused to be girly like the rest, she loves the outdoors, and adores her horses. She will do anything to be outside or to help an animal in need. Sometimes she sneaks out to tend her horses and sometimes she even sleeps with them but in the very least she's not afraid.

"She's very strong willed, thick skulled, but loving and caring. Like we said, she'll do anything for one in need." Sir Chadwick mentioned.

"I just don't understand why she doesn't enjoy the things other women do, but I fully respect her way of life. Honestly if I were not raised like this and had what she's got, I'd be like her. I envy my daughter." Lady Chadwick said with a smile. "Er your daughter." she corrected.

"Our daughter." Travis and I said with a kind smile.

Laying on Jenny's back, I stared at the stables' ceiling. Heavy footsteps sounded and Jenny snorted before a spicy, woodsy scent invaded my nostrils. A pull tugged at my wolf and I knew exactly who it was.

"What Axel. Why are you even here?" I snapped not looking at him.

"M'lady," he chuckled. "Feisty. I'm here just to spend mere time with the woman who's captured my heart." my heart skipped a beat.

"What preposterous thing are you speaking of now Axel." I sat up glaring at him.

"How can you not tell Bethany!" he swung Jenny's stall door open and stepped in and she reared backward at his sudden entrance. "You are my love, my-"

"Mate." I sighed.

"Yes." he slowly walked towards me, his eyes pleading. "Please Bethany, let me show you what mates do, let me explain. Give me a chance Bethany, I beg of you."

"Axel." I slid off Jenny's back. "You have one shot. I may not give the lady like vibe, but I do expect to be treated as a lady but I want men's outdoors. You mess up," I paused.

"What?"

"I don't know. If you mess up sir, I will be harder to win over."

We walked, hand in hand through my parent's garden, passing a few manor visitors. Up ahead, I saw my bestfriend, human, and usual rider acquaintance Martin Cariney.

"Martin!" I ripped my hand from Axel's, earning a growl from him and ran towards Martin, leaping into his arms. “I've missed you so." I giggled as he placed me on my feet and I kissed my cheek. Axel growled again behind me and Martin glared.

"Missed you too Bethie, and who's this, this, man? Does your father know of him being with you, alone?"

"Posh! Martin! This is Sir Monroe!" I gasped playfully.

"Oh. I'm sorry Sir, I-I wasn't thinking. I was only thinking of my lady friend here." Martin attempted to save himself.

"No worries." Axel growled slightly, his hand brushing against the small of my back.

"Bethie," Martin stepped back, his hand gripping my wrist and pulling me close. "Is he courting you?" he whispered, but I was sure Axel heard.

"I don't know Martin." Axel growled lowly. "Yes, but I made him promise that if he messed up I'd be harder to win over." I sighed. "Duke or not." I said the last part a bit loud.

"Okay," Martin drug out the word. "Whatever you say Bethie."

"Martin, don't fret, and please do stay awhile I wish to ride with you." he nodded, sending a glare at Axel before departing.

"I don't like him," Axel said. "Something's wrong about him."

"Shush, you lame mate." I smiled.

"I am no' lame!" he bellowed. "You'll see when I.."

"Axel." I glowered.

"What I was going to say claim."

"Claim?"

"When a male wolf, or as you say 'shifter', claims his mate. He claims her by simply biting her on the tender spot between her neck and shoulder."

"Bite!?"

"Small amount of pain, more pleasure darling. After the male claims his mate, and male who touches her in a sexual way will disgust her, and she will crave her mate more, especially in heat. Once claimed, their scents will mix lightly but once fully mated, their scents will be fully mixed." he wrapped me in his arms and pulled us behind a large bush.

"Axel, we cannot create a scandal!"

"No' scandal, I'm just showing you what it's like to be claimed." he kissed down my neck and his teeth lightly grazed the spot he was talking about, sending waves and tingles of pleasure throughout me.

"Don't Axel! No--" he pulled away.

"I won't, until you're ready. Until you beg.' he smirked.

" I will not beg my good sir!" I gasped.

"You'll see. You'll crave me."

"I will not!"

"Will so madam." I shook my head and playfully ran from him, heading towards the cliffs I so much enjoyed. The cliffs that I shared my first kiss on, the cliffs Martin and I discovered.
