Over the next week, Tristan and I got into some heavy flexting. Before I knew it, we were starting our days off with sweet little text exchanges and ending our days with flirty messages that were quickly bordering on an R-rating. After more than ninety text exchanges a day, I was beginning to get concerned about what my next cell phone bill was going to cost. But other than that, I was pretty happy with the direction that our burgeoning relationship was heading.

The following Saturday night, I had just settled in at home for a "Gilmore Girls" marathon, when my phone pinged with an incoming text.

Tristan.

I smiled as I flipped my phone open and scanned the message.

Whatcha up to?

I looked down at myself, fully decked out in my comfiest (AKA most raggedy and old) pair of sweats, scarfing down the greasy Chinese food that I'd ordered an hour before and silently thanked the powers that be that he couldn't actually see me.

Not much. Watching TV. How about you?

I only had to wait a few seconds before he wrote back.

Bored. I'm up for a little TV watching. What's on?

For a split second, I weighed whether I should lie about what I was watching or confess that I was obsessed with cheesy teen dramas. In the end, I decided that it was better for him to know this about me before we started seriously dating and he was forced to watch them whenever they were on.

Gilmore Girls marathon. Please don't make fun of me...

I held my breath as I sent the message and hoped he wouldn't rag on me too much for my youthful disposition. I never really expected other people to like the things I did: celeb rag mags, teenybopper TV and my penchant for bad country music. But what was important to me was to be with someone who let me be me. And who likes me not just despite my craziness, but maybe a little because of it.

I'm a big Lorelai fan myself. Tell anyone though, and I'll deny it to my grave. So, should I come over? We can watch together?

Uh, o-kay. Did he just invite himself over to my place?

My heart sped up and the butterflies started swarming in my tummy.

You want to watch the Girls with me? Seriously? I'm wearing sweats and eating Chinese food. Not exactly sexy date night attire.

I looked around the room and surveyed the damage. My place was at least 20 minutes away from being even remotely presentable and that wasn't even factoring in how much time I'd need to work on myself so I'd no longer resemble a homeless person.
